No Dave. No, no, no! It couldn't possibly be that bad! I mean, shit, this thing is an embarrassment to all who were involved, from the producers down to the set's gophers. | That's the sad part: they're not embarrassed, they're proud of it.If what I have just read is even close to descriptive, Expelled will be an utter flop easily comparable to Dover. There are simply not that many stupid people in the country. Are there? | No, there aren't, which is why the producers are bribing Christian schools and showing it to church groups for free, and begging these viewers to "spread the word" and get more butts into theaters on April 18th.
Of course, the award for stupidity must still go to the Discovery Institute which, while it seems it didn't have a hand in the making of the movie, is actively supporting the movie and its message that "the Designer" is God (an assertion that has been "officially" denied for years). All science so far! |

This is going to last forever, or so it seems. Dear Denyse has yet another post up that I won't bother to link because it's a whine that covers no new ground. It's also a handy link to her website where the main part of the whine can be found -- for anyone who cares.
It's getting a little dull & repetitious over there, really. I hope they'll come up with something imaginitive soon -- I mean imaginitive other than their entire premise.

Doesn't Ray's picture just give you an urge to punch him right in the mouth?
But isn't it counter productive for an organization that disclaims religion in their speculations to invite, and, one considers, seek the approval of rabid evangelicals? Oh, wait, they are no longer doing that lie, so I 'spose it's ok.
I'm looking forward to Ray's comments. I wonder if he'll swoon rapturously over it.

Dave, feel free to merge that Ray Comfort review of "Expelled" thread into here.

Bah! On one side of the table there is scientific theory supported by reams of confirmed fact, and on the other sits hopeful speculations and the equivalent of a hop-head's pipe dreams. Some controversy.
I wonder if any of those guys play poker. If not, then they should start. It would teach them something about speculating. I will help.....

At this time there are two theaters in the Charlotte area that will be showing Expelled: No Intelligence Required. One is less that 5 miles from my home, but more than 600 miles from where I'll be. |

From Marketplace last Friday: "Is film's marketing intelligently designed?"
Understandably, a piece about marketing a movie didn't really say anything bad about the film's premise, but it would have been nice to examine that marketing angle, too. I mean, what's being marketed in Expelled is inarguably a ball of lies tied up with Christian ribbons. At least with The Passion of the Christ (Paul Lauer marketed both films), the existence of Jesus is still arguable. |

Review from FauxNews.com Scroll down! http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,348468,00.html "Expelled" is a sloppy, all-over-the-place, poorly made (and not just a little boring) "expose" of the scientific community. It's not very exciting. But it does show that Stein, who's carved out a career selling eye drops in commercials and amusing us on sitcoms, is either completely nuts or so avaricious that he's abandoned all good sense to make a buck. |
| Wow! I thought I might be hallucinating this. The Fox reviewer panned the movie, panned Ben Stein, and also showed the producers cowardice by opening their dreck mainly in rural areas and bible belt states.
Not getting a favorable review from Fox must be a serious blow to the producers of Expelled.
I wonder if that reviewer will still be working for Fox tomorrow? |
