I doubt FtK will ever understand that, so she's running with the "scientists are trying to cover up the obvious design" angle, despite the video - as FtK notes - being "all over the internet" (her emphasis) thanks to Harvard and XVIVO.

The crux here is that it took XVIVO a long time, and lot of research to come up with their video, whilst the Expelled animator(s) took a lot less time and an unknown amount of money to come up with something that has a hell of a lot of similarities.
If this ever goes to court, then during discovery we will all learn what happened during the creation of Expelled's animation. |

Why Ken Miller isn't in Expelled. This is an awesome piece based upon a recording of a conversation that editors at Scientific American had with Mark Mathis, an Expelled associate producer. Mathis basically admits that believers in theistic evolution like Ken Miller aren't in Expelled because it would have ruined the false dichotomy that the movie attempts to create. Scientists who believe in God and live comfortably with evolutionary theory are just "confusing" to the makers of the movie, so confusing that Mathis suggests that Ken Miller isn't religious enough.

David Bolinsky, from XVIVO is not pleased : 'Expelled' ripped-off Harvard's 'Inner Life of the Cell' animation (From richarddawkins.net) To the anti-ID community which is giving XVIVO support in our ideological battle against the microcephalic apostates of "Intelligent Design":
XVIVO created The Inner Life of the Cell for Harvard, through fourteen months of painstaking examination of how a myriad of systems, functional structures and proteins in a cell, could be depicted in a sweeping panoramic style of animation, reminiscent of cinema, that fundamentally raised the bar on the visualization of molecular and cellular biology for undergraduate students...

Expelled replies:Editor's Note: Questions have been raised about the origination of some of the animation used in our movie EXPELLED: No Intelligence Allowed. Claims that we have used any animation in an unauthorized manner are simply false. Premise Media created the animation that illustrates cellular activity used in our film. That on the tail end of a teaser for a screed from World Net Daily. I think I have to go scrub my eyes, now. |

Yeah. By plagiarizing the original. And oh my, I made the mistake of reading the rest of that crap. These people are certifiable. |

Holy crap! Not only do they think they may have found the animator involved in Expelled, but they may have found the guy responsible for the Beware the Believers video! Look what poster Thomas S. Howard has to say:
OK, potentially moonbat theory time. I went and checked out some of Mr. Edmondson's photography. There's some good stuff there. Anyway, I ran into this oddity:
http://tinyurl.com/6oojnx
I thought, hmm, kinda like the "Beware the Believers" thing.
So, I browse on and then find there's about a million pictures of a dog, sometimes two, or maybe even more. But they almost all look like this (with a couple other breeds in there for variety):
OK, weird, I think. That looks a hell of a lot like the dog Dick to the Dawk to the Ph.D gives the boot to.
Then, you know, he's unhappily associated with Expelled, does flash and other animation for a living, and he's from Vancouver, and there's a response vid on YouTube which claims to have snared the mysterious randomslice's IP address, which a GeoIP search places in Vancouver. That's here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q2fDVRnCSlM
It's still totally circumstantial, and I'm definitely not sold on it, but it certainly is suggestive and makes Mr. Edmondson a viable randomslice suspect. |
What do you think? Looks pretty dang close to same to me. Here's what uber-troll FtK had to say:
Hrm...the dog from the link Thomas provided and the dog in the Believers video are identical. Look at the dog's right ear in each.
Looks to me like you're barkin' up the wrong tree. Seems you've found the animator of the infamous randomslice Believers video.
Can't wait to see the flick next week. I'm curious to see if the Believers clip is in it...I'm guessing it will be.
I'm still baffled as to why on earth the pro-Darwin crowd thought the Believers video was anything but poking fun of the establishment. | Well, some of us in the pro-Darwin crowd had our suspicions that it was a creationist video with ties to Expelled. I'm curious what Dude makes of all this.

I think the metro Vancouver area has 2.24 million residents.
I don't know who "religionisacrutch" (youtube ID) is.
I think it is a stretch to say that because one of the expelled producers lives 12 miles from the IP hub of "randomslice" (youtube ID) that they are the same person.
Shit... I live less than 12 miles from a dozen different major WWE/WWF stars, a couple dozen Tampabay pro athletes (Bucs, Rays, Lightning), the "religious" retreat used by dozens of high profile actors who also happen to think Emperor Zenu killed ancient aliens in a volcano and only L. Ron can save them.... so by the above logic I could be any one of those people!
Also.. reagrdless of who made the video, the effect is not one that ridicules Dawkins/PZ/Harris/Hitch/Darwin/Dennet etc.... it ridicules the strawman version of their positions that creationists argue against.

Eh, they're having a couple of pretty slow days over at UcD. Indeed, it's been fairly quiet since the Fox review of their opus came out. But Dembski seldom fails to come up with something: This thread is addressed to the animators of The Machine Video (with Dawkins doing his Eminem routine) as well as any other talented flash/video animators. Perhaps you could put together a spoof of the PZ Myers' “plagiarism” allegation (go here) that borrows from the Coca-Cola ads where the idiots from Coca-Cola are trying to get a lawyer to sue Coke Zero for “taste infringement.” It might play well on YouTube the week before the release. Who knows, maybe Coca-Cola will then sue EXPELLED — now that would really generate interest in the film! |
Don't bother with the link; that's the whole thing less comments, if any.
This is getting to be more fun all the time.

That wasn't really the compelling part. What about the photo of the dog? But I guess that still isn't enough to convince you. We'll just have to wait and see if further evidence is forthcoming.

Eckhh. I'm starting to see TV ads for this movie in California. The ad is right out of a Chick comic classroom scene complete with a wild haired eccentric "professor" vs. Ben Stein assuming the role of the good boy student asking how life began. |
