Hmm I think that will require a 20 million dollar grant to confirm.

I presume 'Lazy Scientists' is a synonym for 'creationists'?

Evidence of my long time assertion that some scientists, some times, participate in crap for a pay check. No different than any other group of people.

What a man believes upon grossly insufficient evidence is an index into his desires -- desires of which he himself is often unconscious. If a man is offered a fact which goes against his instincts, he will scrutinize it closely, and unless the evidence is overwhelming, he will refuse to believe it. If, on the other hand, he is offered something which affords a reason for acting in accordance to his instincts, he will accept it even on the slightest evidence. The origin of myths is explained in this way. - Bertrand Russell

This isn't evidence of that at all. There are scores of studies done by scientists that have refuted ideas that had been considered common sense or obvious truth.

Edited to add: Also, these are just the headlines. What other more specific details were found? What initiated interest in the study in the first place. You are making a rash judgment based on very little information.

Though there is humor here, there's also this point: Even the most obvious assumptions are not always correct. Proving the obvious (or possibly disproving it) is science, too.

What if the results had turned out to be "Men prefer homely women," "Drug use makes rock stars live 300 years," and "Women think kissing is yucky"?

It could happen.

No, the evidence for that is in the IgNobel awards, which are handed out each year for research that should not be repeated.

This reminded me of a joke:

An Irishman walked out of a bar.

It could happen.

Spoiler above.

Here is another.

Kids Smarter than Chimps

IN another case of researchers reporting the bleeding obvious, European scientists have found that children are smarter than chimpanzees.
