Is this the hidden knowledge of Christianity?
Edit: Dumb Jerome makes pictures too big.

What a man believes upon grossly insufficient evidence is an index into his desires -- desires of which he himself is often unconscious. If a man is offered a fact which goes against his instincts, he will scrutinize it closely, and unless the evidence is overwhelming, he will refuse to believe it. If, on the other hand, he is offered something which affords a reason for acting in accordance to his instincts, he will accept it even on the slightest evidence. The origin of myths is explained in this way. - Bertrand Russell |

This would also explain Moses seeing and talking to a burning bush that did not burn.

If I'm not mistaken, the scholar John Allegro had some idea related to this and published it as a book that was more or less trashed by academia. |

You are correct. He was also one of the only researchers on the dead sea scrolls project that did not have affiliation with the church and spoke out about the church attempting to stifle and hide the research.

So, Jerome, can I get you to resize the first image on your post? I am getting really tired of links and images that mess up threads...

Sorry, I thought the parameters to stay with in were less than 600x600.
Please give me the correct parameters.

Now, I think, everything has been published. |

| Weird factiod: A. muscaria is also known as 'fly agaric.' It is dried and a little is put in a shallow saucer of milk. The milk attracts house flies who drink a little, start tripping, then fall in and drown. Neat!
If you try to eat one, you will puke up your spincter and quite possibly your socks. Mostly they are dried and smoked in small quanity, or added to tea.
Hey, what do you think the Indians smoked in those peace pipes?

Jerome, I know you sometimes like to just throw things out for discussion, and other times really want a debate. I'm not clear what you want here. Is this just idle chatter, or are you really making an argument? |

I thought this would be an interesting topic for a talk with a perspective I have never heard from concerning the relationship between religion and drugs.

| I see. Well, it's certainly an interesting topic, though I doubt that either early Christianity or Judaism much that was based on drugs (besides wine...) |
