Disinfromation!

The common plan when people are catchin' on is to provide disinformation.

One only has to watch the Seattle v Pittsburgh Super bowl to see.

It sure was nice for Jerome Bettis to win a Super bowl in his last game in his home town.

Great story's are the purview of the WWF.

Moved to the humor folder, where it belongs.

What a man believes upon grossly insufficient evidence is an index into his desires -- desires of which he himself is often unconscious. If a man is offered a fact which goes against his instincts, he will scrutinize it closely, and unless the evidence is overwhelming, he will refuse to believe it. If, on the other hand, he is offered something which affords a reason for acting in accordance to his instincts, he will accept it even on the slightest evidence. Jerome do you get a deal on purchasing foil undies in bulk or do you just know a good foil outlet?

Watching football is like watching pornography. There's plenty of action, and I can't take my eyes off it, but when it's over, I wonder why the hell I spent an afternoon doing it. ~Luke Salisbury

Unlike Mr. Salisbury, I rarely bother to turn it on. I've better, more productive ways to waste time than be driven to distraction by commercial bullshit, ratchet-jawed announcers, and endless play-by-play reruns. But Jerome, this is scarcly some conspiricy theory. It is merely a common example of the honesty and integerty found in professional sport & politics, and the money involved demands it. The guy's henious crime was stupidity; he got caught and therefore must suffer the conquences.

Now if the game was fixed by professional 'Vegas gamblers, and I'm sure the bastards have tried, then we'd have us one o' them conspiricies.

Your mistake was in wearing the tin foil on the wrong end. It should be worn, thus:

What?!? Your argument doesn't even make sense. Please explain. The link was to a story where the Patriots are suspected of filming defensive coaches as they relay plays to the players on the field. Presumably, armed with this information, the Patriots may be able to predict a defensive play and then call an offensive play that is best suited to exploit said defense.

There is nothing to suggest that this is some NFL-wide effort to "predetermine" the outcome of games! Indeed, the leap between the story you linked to and your conclusion is almost completely delusional!!

The article is about a team cheating, not the NFL rigging games, making your title both false and misleading.

Screw the patriots if it turns out that they were actually cheating. Pretty despicable.

This story tells Jerome that the NFL is 'rigged'?? Why am I not surprised. He has got to be the king of drawing wrong conclusions.

I think Jerome's gone off his meds again. Next, he'll be telling us that the NFL was behind 9/11.

Those hats in reality focus the control. Its a reverse conspiracy.

This story is disinformation. It is an attempt to explain inconsistencies without implicating the entire league.

Think of it like steroids in baseball. Jason Giambi and Sammy Sosa are currently on steroids, yet MLB goes after low profile and retiring players. This way it seems as if they are doing something without have to do something that harms star players.

How does this "explain inconsistencies"?!? What "inconsistencies" are there, and how does the accusation that the Patriots are filming defensive signals "explain" them? Cite documented examples and be specific.

The Patriots did win the Super bowl just after 9/11 after being a bad team for a long time with a few highlights. In 2001 no one thought the Pats would have a chance to go to the super bowl; their record was 5-11 in 2000.

OK, there are about 120 plays in an NFL game. The correct holding call only 3 or 4 times a game will in most cases change the outcome of the game. Anyone who watches the NFL knows that this is a very contentious and subjective penalty.

In one game in particular from a couple of years ago I watched a team move 55 yards on 5 incomplete passes to score a touchdown with time running out. The team that scored did not win the game, but they cover the spread.

The NFL is the only league; professional or college, that requires the camera operators to sign a non disclosure agreement.

The operation is a money making entertainment endeavor. I think Filthy almost understands.

One of my favorite "X-Files" episodes is where they show the history of the Cigarette Smoking Man. In one scene, he is wrapping up year end business with his underlings.

One of them asks, "Who do you think should win the next Super Bowl? The Bills?" The CSM replied, irritably, "Not if I have anything to do with it!"

Almost?

I recall reading an article years ago about bullpen pitchers stealing and interpreting opposing catcher's signels to their pitchers. They would pass this info on to the base coaches who could then signel the batter as to what was coming. I don't recall as to how effective this was 'cause I don't bother with baseball, either. Guess I just ain't sporty enuff.

It is just amazing how you seem to know so many things without a shadow of doubt! It would be so much more amazing if you were right sometimes.

But Jerome, your arguments amount to nothing but an untestable hypothesis. Indeed, you can only arrive at the conclusion after the fact. You suggested to Moonder that the Patriots won in 2001 because of 9/11. (Why not New York?) The implication is that since they were 5-11 in 2000, there's no way that they should have been able to win the Superbowl without the NFL's intervention.

Of course, bad teams become good ones all the time, especially in the world of free agency. St Louis did it just a few years earlier, going from 4-12 in 1998 to 13-3 and winning the Superbowl in 1999. What's the conspiracy? Baltimore went 6-9-1, 8-8, and 12-4. Was this a conspiracy? How do you distinguish between what's "natural" and what's a conspiracy?

You cited a game from a few years ago where a team managed to cover the spread through fortuitous officiating. Why is this an example of a conspiracy?
