You are driving a small car at a constant speed. To your immediate right is a sheer drop off. To your left is a fire engine traveling the same speed as you. In front of you is a galloping horse that you can't seem to overtake. Behind you is a helicopter flying almost at ground level and pacing you. What can you do to safely get out of this highly dangerous situation?

I'm not convinced. How did you deduce that he was talking about linear speed? I always assume people mean "radians per second" when they say "speed"

It could also be travelling faster if the sheer drop was toward the center of the merry-go-round.

It could also, for all intents and purposes, be travelling at the same speed if the diameter of the merry-go-round was really large.
