Those familiar with The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy will know the character of Zaphod Beeblebrox. He was a drunk, a carouser, a party animal, thief, swindler, con-man, and lecher. He was also Galactic President. Is there a parallel with George W. Bush? Let's read one of the passages from the book which explains why Zaphod is the perfect choice for the job:

Only six people in the Galaxy knew that the job of the Galactic President was not to wield power but to attract attention away from it. (emphasis added)

Discuss.

(Keep in mind that as a Canuck I haven't the same perspective and knowledge as most of you, but it seems plausible to me)

Zaphod is way more cool and hip than W. He's so hip he has trouble seeing over his pelvis. He's so cool you could keep a side of meat in him for a month.

That's as good a "theory" as any I've heard or made up, and funnier, too.

Nah. Zaphod had a little class and his second, thinking head wasn't in his underwear. Except after two Pan-Galatic Gargle-Blasters, but in that situation, thinking heads are pretty much superfluous.

Which might explain a lot.........

I've often wondered whether George Bush ever had a thought that wasn't provided by Cheney, Rove, Runsfeld, etc.

He might have purloined a few from Roderic Borja and Dan Quayle, but other than that, I can't think of any.
