This is a win-win for god...of course it will rain eventually, thereby proving that god (and prayer) are real. What they need to do is ask for rain on a specific day, or even the hour.
Of course, when it doesn't happen, they just claim it isn't God's Will right now.

| Why does god need a bunch of people to pray for rain before he'll end this cruel drought? Does god not know Georgia needs rain? God needs a little prodding to take notice or maybe he's the type of deity that needs attention now and then. Why arn't they pissed off at god for denying them rain all this time? Nonsense. |

Pray in one hand & piss in the other. Which do you think will get wetter quicker?
I wish them/us good luck with it anyway. This drought is getting to be some serious shit, and if we get a dry winter, we're in some trouble. Even the aquifers will be affected, or so I've been told (I really don't know the science of that).

Somehow, where severe droughts are concerned, maybe we got screwed when we 'dropped' gills and developed lungs. |

The thought occurs in my grifter's mind: wouldn't right now present a splendid time to revive the old rainmaker's scam that was going around Kansas back during their big drought? Here's a story: | IN the Kinsley Graphic of February 3, 1938, appeared a full-page advertisement of twenty-five business, men of Kinsley under the heading "WE WANT SNOW OR RAIN." They asked for one-half inch of moisture on or before February 17. To prove their faith in the value of advertising they agreed to pay double for the ads "upon the delivery of said moisture," and in case it did not arrive, the Graphic and Mrs. Cora Lewis, its editor, were to stand the cost. This advertisement was resorted to in a spirit of fun and to help keep up the morale of the people of Kinsley who were becoming disheartened by the prolonged drought. |
