Another televangelist is on the hot seat, but at least it's a comfy, tasteful, marble-topped seat. Sen. Charles Grassley, R-Iowa, has sent a list of questions to Joyce Meyer, head of the $124-million-a-year Joyce Meyer Ministries: In his five-page letter, Grassley also asked Meyer for:
— A "detailed accounting" of all her and her husband's expense-account items, including clothing and cosmetic surgery.
— Information about any overseas bank accounts and deposits made outside the U.S. after international evangelical crusades.
— The tax-exempt purpose of items purchased for her ministry's headquarters, such as a $23,000 marble-topped commode, a $30,000 conference table and an $11,219 French clock. |
Joyce Meyer, sittin' pretty, and tax-free.

| Excellent! This one is a regular on the toob around here and I must remark that she has a pretty good, if slightly repugnent, line.
Remarkable, isn't it, that in spite of a high-dollar toilet, the shit still comes from and goes to the same places as it would in the humblest privy in the land. Talk about conspicous consumption....
Wait a minute, here; are we talking about a fancy squat-pot or a piece of furniture? The article doesn't elaborate, but, really, no matter, it's still the same, old ripoff & wages of sin. Apparently, those are very good indeed.

I assumed a crapper, but there is another piece of furniture called a commode, isn't there? Wouldn't make much difference to the fleeced sheep, though.

A commode is either a woman's hat, a small cabinet, a portable sink, or a crapper.
I think "crapper" is the appropriate meaning in this context. Even if they are talking about a small cabinet.
And we can rule out the hat.... I mean, who would wear a hat with $23k worth of marble on top? How would you be able to hold your head up?

| I'm glad someone did the deep thinking on that one.

With all this talk about tax exemptions and what not, it's easy to loose sight of what's really important here. Is she shaggable or not? |

Only if on top of her 23k marble top commode. And then one would have to be drunk on that cheap last supper wine. Goddamn, I don't think I could ever get it up though, all miracles aside.
Well, after a second look, screw the 23k 'mode idea... think I'll turn and watch I Dream Of Jeanie instead.

| Easy, I was only joking. You should have seen what my original response was going to be/ Her toilet is about the same as my entire student loan! These people drive me nuts. Crude humour in this case is the only thing keeping me from excessive profanity.
If anyone is truly offended, I am sorry and I'd remove my comment, though it's been quoted now.
At least, she's one of the people being investigated! |
