I don't know if you've read this one before, but here it is:

That article, look at the date, is from 1970. Either the date script has a problem (new year and all), or we have a child that is old enough to choose what to worship.

But please note, as PZ eventually learned, this article is from 1970. The decision in question was later overturned by a higher court. However, as a warning against forced religious conversions, nothing could serve as a better reminder. Except perhaps Edgardo Mortara.

And of course, let us not forget that in most Muslim countries, renouncing Islam warrants the death penalty.

This is a bit strange. Myers notes at the end of his blog,
Yeesh — now I discover this is old news, from 1970. Why did so many people suddenly send this in to me, anyway?
Indeed. How does a 1970 article suddenly fly around the internet? As of this writing, it is Time's most popular article:
1. Can Atheists Be Parents?
2. Kenya on the Verge of a Showdown
3. Missing Evidence from Bhutto's Murder
4. Did This Tiger Hold a Grudge?
5. Can Biden Defy the Iowa Odds?
6. A Personality Test for Pets
7. Edwards in Iowa: Closing With Class
8. A Massacre in a Kenyan Church
9. Huckabee's Final Push in Iowa
10. Chavez's New Diplomatic Defeat
The remaining are all more or less reflecting current events. Time does have older articles easily available (e.g. this article from December of 1970 on Nixon that I found with a few clicks). Is this an example of a sort of "viral video" thing? How else do we explain it?

I got the link myself today via an atheist lady friend of my GF, and would have posted the link myself, had Roddy not done so.

Very odd how these things propagate. I hadn't noticed the date, myself, duh. I presume enough others were equally dumb on that point, while being outraged by the contents.

Just wait until word of Hitler's invasion of Poland starts making the rounds.

Here's a link to Moonscape News, and one to its Archive.
