What if you didn't make any? I didn't; can't take the pressure of the obligation nor the shame & disgrace of the inevitable failure.

Well, since "overthrow the abrahamic religions" wasn't there, I went with "lose weight." |

All of the above. And same as last year's. |

Where is the "other" category?
I make several resolutions every year, some of which I keep, others I fail to keep. This year's:
1. Go out to eat (including ordering in) no more than once a week on average
2. Spend at least 6 hours a week in the studio until June 15th, and 20 hours a week after that (barring vacation or illness)
3. Finish the first draft of Worshipping Chaos
4. Finish the 7th and final draft of The Cousins of Sede and begin marketing it to agents
5. Apply for at least 6 grants
6. Apply to at least 6 residencies, unless I get one, and then I can stop there |

I actually began a get-in-shape program in November as a sort of early New Years Resolution. The goal was lose weight plus be able to run 5k's in the upper-16:00 range (what I was doing before I started grad school) by the end of 2008. Then, a month into it, I got the injury bug. The doc cleverly reminds me that I'm not 25 anymore (asshole-- I'm never going to him anymore!), and so the program is already derailed. I hope by the end of January to be starting again, though. Behind schedule, but hopefully not too much so! |
