Oh yeah. You know that this has to be good. Ol' Ed has found and torn apart an article by Ray Comfort

Just reading the Comfort's article (linked to in Ed's piece) is enough to make a person's eyes bleed. Fortunately, there are several comments on that site that shoot him down.

If you were only right.

You guys don't have a clue. If you'd read The End of Faith, The God Delusion, or God Is Not Great, you'd know that Comfort has just put his foot in his mouth. Consider: http://formsmostbeautiful.blogspot.com/2007/12/islamic-creationism-is-at-least-as.html Wake up. These assertions are all nonsense.

Argument from Ignorance

Christopher Hitchens? Sam Harris? Karen Armstrong's seminal and prophetic book, "The Battle for God?" My personal experiences is that non-theists have never been more prolific in castigating Islam, both in book form and constant public appearances broadcast both on TV and the Internet. You are making an argument from ignorance that appears to be lapped up enthusiastically by a gullible set of readers. The fact that we non-theists see all fundamental and many evangelical Christianists as an internal danger to our country's future does not cloud our eyes to the reality that all fundamentalist religions are dangerous to the health, wealth, and individual liberty of its citizens, a fact repeated through-out history.

These are just two of them. Nice to see that idiot getting shot down on his own turf.

What brought that on? this. Original posting here.

Another example of this guy's lunacy here.

Hah! It takes more than some pathetic idiot throwing school-yard insults to upset me, or even get very much of my attention. Hell, Comfort is considered something of an idiot even among many other Christians. He's the Sylvia Browne of the Bible-flogging set; noisey, wrong & irrevelent.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think we've discussed this mook before.

Yeah filthy, Ray Comfort is the guy who once said the shape of a banana disproved evolution. He is not tightly wrapped.

He is also the guy who (along with Kirk Cameron) who debated the the Rational Response Squad on Nightline, of which a only a poorly edited version was ever aired on TV.

He pratices the usual douchebaggery when he "proves" evolution is "false". Same tired old strawmen.

Comfort's amazingly stupid, considering getting himself into a situation where he promised to prove God's existence in a debate, then arrived unarmed. And now, with these transparently ignorant comments about atheists being afraid to take on Islam, he has immediately been thoroughly trashed in his own forum. He's just too stupid to pick fights he can win.

Man, I'd sort of forgotten about that (and never saw it the first time) so I went and watched on YouTube.

If I may pretend to be a teenager and slip into 1337-speak:

ZMOG!!1 COMFORT GOT PWNED!!!11!one!

*Ahem*

It's actually embarrassing to watch starting ca. the 6th minute on.
