Well I went ahead and made fun of AW for crack addiction and lack of style without really knowing anything about her music. Now having listened to her album 'Back to Black' I feel comfortable saying it is easily one of the best albums I have ever heard. Now I rarely listen to modern music so the last great albums I can compare it to are, Public Enemy: It takes a nation of millions, U2: Joshua Tree and Primus: Sailing the seas of cheese...

Moved topic to general discussion.

Your previous criticisms are no less valid. Many very talented people are completely screwed up outside their area of excellence.

Yes, but she is now a supremely talented wastoid as opposed to just a wastoid.

Also I put it in the book review folder because there was talk of it becoming a 'Media review' folder...

I like the album quite a bit too. It seems like many of the greatest artists over human history were very screwed up. Perhaps there's a relationship between producing something genuinely unique and being unable to function well in your contemporaneous culture. Suffering in one end, unique and woderful art out the other.

We're still talking about it, and if it does shift, the sense is it would be more a place to review more skeptical (or decidedly unskeptical), and not media in general.

That's not the final word, but that's why Kil moved it.

There's always the Water Cooler for this sort of thing, too. Pity we don't have a "merge threads" function.

I say work on the "Remote moron electricution" function first.
