Battle of the Chambersburg billboards
The new billboard, posted on Thursday, is sponsored by "In God We Trust," a national advocacy group based in Arlington, Va. It poses the question: "Why Do Atheists Hate America?"

The sign depicts a child saluting the U.S. flag and includes the Web site: InGodWeTrustUSA.org.

The new billboard is in response to the sign, "Imagine No Religion," that was posted before Christmas.
...
When asked about the question, "Why do atheists hate America?" Nedd gave a quick reply: "That's what we're trying to figure out. We don't know the answer."

Comparing the two messages of the billboards, a better question might be: "Why are theists so paranoid?"

But no matter, In God We Trust is little more than a lunatic fringe split off from the Episcopals, who were probably glad to see them go.
The Episcopal Missionary Church (EMC) is a Continuing Anglican church body in the United States and a member of the Federation of Anglican Churches in the Americas. Its founding in the early 1990s can be traced to the protests of members of The Episcopal Church in the United States of America (ECUSA) who were concerned that their church had become massively influenced by secular humanism (i.e., liberal theologies). At first, these clergy and laypersons sought to change the direction of their church by working from within it, to which end they formed a voluntary association, the "Episcopal Synod of America."

Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today...

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace...

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world...

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one

I like the quotes page. 1) They weren't brave enough to link directly to the ffrf.org page. 2) The quotes make more sense than the ingodwetrust.com rant. Still.

Unless there are some serious malfunctions, it appears that their server killed their account.

Why continue? Because we must. Because we have the call. Because it is nobler to fight for rationality without winning than to give up in the face of continued defeats. Y'know, it's always struck me as kind'a funny, not to come right out and say: asinine!, that almost every time any of these far-right fools want to advertise how evil someone they don't like might be, they use the "XXXX HATES AMERICA" nonsense. Why is that, I wonder.

I would never state that Council Nedd hates America, but that he only despises what it and it's Constitution stand for.

I am rapidly coming to the conclusion that paranoia goes with the theist territory; the ones that are the most vocal, at any rate. Think about it; an ogre in the sky is said to watch everything we, as individuals, do/say/think & so forth, and will give us our comeuppance in due course. And that, brothers & sisters, ain't gonna be pretty. Yeesh, if I believed such shit, I'd be raving from a pulpit or hiding in a prayer closet, too!

Their beef with the atheists.

The FFRF doesn't have a response to the God campaign, just a press release on their own billboard.

Do you recall what the improper link was, Dave?

The period at the end of the sentence was being included in the URL.

What brought that on? this. Original posting here.

Another example of this guy's lunacy here.

I´ve just read the link above and I agree completely with those atheists´opinions. Are the IGWT people shooting their selves in the foot by publishing such rational and logical opinions from atheists? Hmmmm.

Cheers!

I can get there in about 20 minutes, from home.

Old Gallows Road is only about two blocks long. And it doesn't even connect directly anymore to the many-miles-long Gallows Road, you need to take Gallows Branch Road to get from one to the other. WTF is a Gallows Branch?

Old Courthouse Road is also close by.

That whole area is now dominated by shopping malls (scroll North), not judicial buildings.

Wow! I used to work in an office building in Vienna on Gallows Rd. I know that area (Tyson's Corner) quite well.
