.. and, wouldn't you know it, they just added another seven new ones to the existing seven! So no slack for us gluttons, wannabe whore mongers, etc. But at least science finally gets this Hitler Jugend Pope's special attention!
Drug pushers, the obscenely rich, environmental polluters and “manipulative” genetic scientists beware – you may be in danger of losing your mortal soul unless you repent.

Pope Benedict XVI said that
an increasing number of people
in the secularised West were
making do without God

After 1,500 years the Vatican has brought the seven deadly sins up to date by adding seven new ones for the age of globalisation. The list, published yesterday in L'Osservatore Romano, the Vatican newspaper, came as the Pope deplored the “decreasing sense of sin” in today's “securalised world” and the falling numbers of Roman Catholics going to confession.
I guess they are going to have to take back that belated apology to Galileo.

LOL! Good point, there. They may as well put that hypocrisy right out in front. Along with the new pedophilia sin!

It's all about control, isn't it? We see it every day and discuss it often in here.

The Vatican worrys about fewer Catholics doing confession & Pope Benny adds some new and improved sins, like anyone but the brain-washed cares. It might even seem as though Christanity is losing it's grip, a little at least. However, Islam still has the Muslims firmly by their throats, insuring that whatever happens with the Jesus Freaks, there will still be plenty of religious evil in the world for some time to come.

I found one of the related links interesting:
The Blasphemy Collection
The concept of blasphemy seemed for some decades to be in decline in the West, but not any more. It may be useful to look back at some recent cases of militantly religious outrage...

Rated by
Vulgarity –the piece shocked through its conflation of the sacred and the profane.

Criminality –the piece contravened laws in a given country

Religious impact –the work caused outrage from religious leaders

Political impact –speeches were made by governments, laws were created or changed.

Deaths – outrage at the work led to the death of one or more people

So all the people who committed these "sins" last year weren't sinning then, (at least not mortally), but might be guilty of a past (mortal)sin now? How does one know when he/she is too rich and goes from merely successful to "sinfully" wealthy? Good grief.
