Is the woman in the video Eugenie Scott?

If so, dang, I recognized everyone.

I don't know. With the "Expelled" stamp on the ousted scientist's forehead and the manner it portrays scientists as arrogant jerks: "We appreciate your concern. It is noted and stupid. After all, we are scientists, much, much smarter than you," not to mention the Jib-Jab style animation earlier exploited by Dembski, I saw this as a failed attempt at mockery. I wouldn't be surprised to learn this was made by a creationist, or even supposed to be part of a "viral" campaign to promote Expelled.

From PZ's site, Justin H. pretty much summed it up for me:
The prelude and the use of the "Expelled" logo convince me that this was made by the creationist side, but I think it backfired. The (apparently ironic) refrain "he's smarter than you, he's got a [science degree|PhD]" reminds me of a redneck pastor saying, "don't let them sciencey types tell you that we evoluted from some rocks and monkeys!"

Anyway, I thought it was great--as other posters have remarked, the references to people like Democritus are solid, and pretty flattering to our side. Epic fail and whatnot for the creationists, as usual.

It is 100% not made by creationists or anyone supportive or associated with expelled.

If you take away the caricature heads you'd seee the same person behind each one. A goofy lookin bald guy with some RPGs (rape prevention glasses). I recognize the voice, but can't recall his name. He's done some other comedy type "rap" videos, we've even linked to at least one of them here. The one I'm thinking of was about computer geeks.

Irritiating me that I can't remember his name... heh.

And really, that shit is waaaaaay to funny to have been done by a creationist!

Again, someone in PZ's comments said it better than I. Robert Maynard wrote:
I know it's appealing to think that nobody who could produce such an entertaining video could possibly be anything other than "one of us", but the imagery used in the film and the rap is as follows:
Scientists have a machine, built over a long period of time, which is programmed to identify and expunge dissidence. It stamps the guys head with "EXPELLED" and tosses him out of the college. The chorus chants an argument from authority without irony, and "Dicky D" continuously speaks condescendingly to listeners who might try and argue with him and challenge naturalism.
While thick with clever historical references, there is nothing in it that counteracts the explicit imagery that scientific academia is an elitist system which acts with robotic dogmatism to bully and throw out dissidents, imagery which goes hand in hand with Expelled and the Intelligent Design movement.

Weird Al?

Why continue? Because we must. Because we have the call. Because it is nobler to fight for rationality without winning than to give up in the face of continued defeats. Because whatever true progress humanity makes is through the rationality of the occasional individual and because any one individual we may win for the cause may do more for humanity than a hundred thousand who hug their superstitions to their breast.

C'mon HH, that video is pure Terry Gilliam Python style. Its intended to be absurd, so absurd that the mockery of the academics that makes up most of the content actually ends up making fun of their adversaries (creationists).

It is a parody of the creationist criticisms of those academics!

The second funniest thing about it, however, is the people on PZs blog (and now you HH, sorry), who are convinced it is some creationist propaganda piece.

The voice does sound familiar, but it definitely isn't weird Al.

No, it isn't Weird Al.

Been wracking my brain all day trying to think of the guy's name, and am beginning to wonder if it isn't something I just imagined... oh well, maybe a good night's sleep (as if such a thing existed in my world) will assist with the recall.

Whatever the intent, that is the result.
Most things referenced in the lyrics are way above the heads of the normal cretinist target audience

Dickie D does not get it either.

At Dawkin's blog, someone posted a transcript of the lyrics.

Edit: I've set up the high-quality version on my server. It's so much better than the YouTube link. I don't want it public, so please PM me and I'll get you a link where you can download it.
It's ~280MB .avi file.

Yeah, well I've think you have really missed the boat here as well. I guess we can't know who between us is correct until we found out who made the song and video and why. It's either a disinterested 3rd party trying to lampoon both sides, or it's someone with an expressly creationist point of view. When a creo troll like William Wallace over at the PT sees the video as an accurate portrayal of evil materialists, then I have trouble brushing the whole thing off as "parody." The creationists certainly don't see it that way.

If if turns out I am wrong about this, then I'll gladly admit as much.
