YO: One of the many stories clearing the newswires today includes this one:
Obama says McCain would be better than Bush
READING, Pa. (AP) -- Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama said Sunday that Republican rival John McCain would be better for the country than President Bush has been over the past eight years.
Orwellingly Yurz Sez:
However, what Barack needs to clarify for about 28% of the nation is: Yes, McCain would. But here's a list of others who would also have been better in the White House for these nearly 8 years-------instead of George War Bush:
Ronald Wilson Reagan, Richard Milhaus Nixon, George H. W. Bush, Newt Gingrich, Pete Wilson, George Tenet, Colon Powell, Mitt Romney, Robert Bennett, Charles Krauthhammer, Morton Kondracke, Brit Hume, Larry Craig, Benjamin Netanyahu, Joe Lieberman, Glen Beck, Michael Brown, Rick Santorum, Trent Lott, Alan Combs, Saxby Chamblis, Duncan "Donuts" Hunter, Tucker Carlson, Chuck Norris, Zel Miller, Kay Bailey Hutchinson, Elizabeth Dole, John Doolittle, Richard Pombo, Jim Bunning, Orin Hatch, James Inhofe (not too sure about this one, though) and...finally...Jeb and Barbara Bush.
I rest my case.
I'm sure there are others you can add. OY!

I agree, OY. Bush is so bad, it's really hard to think of many people who would be a worse President. McCain, however, might succumb to the same NeoCon forces that Bush rode to power, and he's certainly been courting the Religious Right wingnuts.
Either may, we've got to compare the actual prospects with one another, and McCain comes out as an oily, dishonest, and ignorant bastard compared to his two potential opponents.

YO to Halfmooner and Filthy on the "Anyone's Better Than Bush" rant above.
First to Moonman: Yes, McCain is an unctuous flip-flopper who has an anger management problem. Also, if John McCain hadn't succeeded Barry Goldwater in the Senate, there subsequently would have only been A Keating Four---Not Five. Don't look for anyone at ABC News to ask Senator McSame about that incident.
To Filthy: I love your list. Some real dandies there. I think maybe I should have included James Baker and Rev. Ted Haggard on my mine, however.
On another subject today: When I snapped on a cable news channel this evening, I noticed Pope Benedict and Lynn Cheney at JFK Airport on a big stage with a war criminal. Anyone else see that?

News media: "Obama says McCain would be better president than Bush" (AP)
Obama actual quote: "You have a real choice in this election. Either Democrat would be better than John McCain. And all three of us would be better than George Bush..."
So Obama is saying EVEN McCain, (who would be bad for America) is better than Bush.
And Hillary then says: "We need a nominee who will take on John McCain, not cheer on John McCain." (In her typically snarky way.)
I says: Manure is better than Bush in so far as it would disintegrate into the soil and help crops grow, thereby actually accomplishing something beneficial. |
Diversity, independence, innovation and imagination are progressive concepts ultimately alien to the conservative mind.
"TAX AND SPEND" IS GOOD! (TAX: Wealthy corporations who won't go poor even after taxes. SPEND: On public works programs, education, the environment, improvements.) |

Yes, manure..... If Bush were to disintegrate into the soil, it would foul the all the wells and stunt the growth of every plant from horse thistle to pole beans to okra to collards, all the way from Crawford to Pascagoola and points North, South & West. It would be a decade before anyone brought in a crop, or just a garden, worth harvesting.
Too much shit is not good; you need just enough and no more.
