I looked over at the JREF to see the deadline on registering for the upcoming TAM6 event, and noticed that the price had jumped by fifty dollars. I knew that would happen, but was under the impression that it would not jump until the end of April. So I called to verify and see if I could still get the early registration rate.

Anyhow, The person who answered was Randi. I realized it almost immediately and was almost shocked out of my reason for calling. Anyhow, he took down my information, and promised a call on Monday morning from Linda, who handles that sort of thing. The cool thing is he remembered some of our correspondence, or pretended to anyhow, not wanting to hurt my feelings.

So, Randi is in the office answering the phone all by himself.

Go figure...

Let the prank calls being...

"Hi, this is Uri, I wanted to take that test thingy of yours."

Why continue? Because we must. Because we have the call. Because it is nobler to fight for rationality without winning than to give up in the face of continued defeats. Because whatever true progress humanity makes is through the rationality of the occasional individual and because any one individual we may win for the cause may do more for humanity than a hundred thousand who hug their superstitions to their breast.

Okay, my problem is solved. It turned out that the letter I received announcing the event had a different date (April 30th) for early registration than did the website. Linda apologized for the confusion. In fact, before she realized that they were sending out two different dates, she told me I could have the early registration date. So the deed is done.

Now I have to figure out how to pay for the rest of stuff that goes along with attending TAM, like hotel and travel expenses. This comes at a bad time, due to my new out of pocket expenses for health insurance. I won't be asking for an official donation drive, because I feel that I let you all down by not completing my TAM5 report as promised. (Actually, I am through most of it, but Sunday is proving to be problematic, because I don't remember much due to the pretty high fever I was running on that day.) I will hopefully figure out how to finish it before the upcoming TAM6. Sigh...

Never-the-less, if anyone feels compelled to make a donation, just go to last years donation thread
. Any help will be greatly appreciated. I'm assuming that the paypal button still works.

Also, it sure would be nice of other SFN members were there. I do promote us as much as I can, without embarrassing myself, but numbers matter. We are not at all unknown to many of the people who attend, including Randi, so it would be nice to have an SFN presence. Plus, we could meet and hang out, which is what I really care about the most!!!

I was seriously contemplating TAM6, but my financial situation isn't going to let me get there this year. TAM7 however is looking like it may actually be managable.
