I don't know any details, except Abbie Smith's "ERV" blog appears to be gone. Anybody know what's up? I've just fired off an email to Abbie, to try to find out what's gone down.

Lots of you have noticed that the ERV blog is currently inaccessible. Abbie can't get to it either, and something is very, very wrong — either a random glitch or some peckerwood reported her site to the powers-that-be at google and a kneejerk pulled the plug. She is going to be trying to get it reinstated, so be patient for a little while. I'll let you all know if any news develops.

They let the Rude Pundit blog on blogspot.... so how the hell would the ERV blog be violating any of their rules?

When did something like this have to be fair or make sense? If the right complaint is in front of the right person...poof. Gone.

I'm just sayin... The Rude One probably gets hundreds of complaints a month and his blog remains.
But yeah, it doesn't have to make sense. Damn arbitrary blog moderators....

The first Abbie knew about it was my email to her, she wrote, and she certainly didn't have any answers then.
Hoo-rah! She's now got a Science Blog, just like at PZ's Playhouse! Thanks for that info, Dave.

Abbie's old site is back, and she's saying the outage was a technical glitch. Now she's backing up all her old stuff, to put on her new ERV Science Blogs site. Somebody race off and call back the posse, please.
Edited to append correction: Abbie now writes:WHOO!
Thanks to Mark at 'Good Math, Bad Math', the old ERV is back up.
For now.
ERVs disappearance wasnt a generalized Blogger glitch.
I view it as malicious behavior, though I sympathize with the Blogger folks and the sheer volume of crap they have to deal with, so no hard feelings. |
