BRILLIANT!

Diversity, independence, innovation and imagination are progressive concepts ultimately alien to the conservative mind.

This one should be sent to everyone who might have an interest in using it. Very well done!!!!

Mooner.....

This one may be your best work yet. Send it to the DNC They will undoubtedly use it in the upcoming campaign. It's more than good enough to be put in motion and put on national TV as a paid political announcement!

EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT!!!

Thanks much, Kil and bngbuck! I will try disseminating it to the political forces that can see it more widely used.

Well done! I shall see that it gets spread around a bit.

I don't know about the 100 year comments. That is one thing that I think is liberal spin. McCain has made many genuine and obvious flipflops, but I'm not convinced that that is one of them. McCain seems to be saying that a heavy force will be finished soon, but that there will be an American military presence that supports the Iraqi government and military in charge (as there still is in South Korea) for as much as a century.

I agree, but what McCain, among too many others, fails to realize is that the Iraqi culture is vastly different from the Korean and Japanese. With Mid-East Muslims, it will be religious with the troops stationed there looked upon as the infidel (Judeo/Christian) enemy. The 100 years will be as bloody as the last five except that it won't be a civil war. And it is highly unlikely to last anything like 100 years, one way or another.

What's the worst part is that McCain actually said what he'd said, in an apparent (and all-too-typical) fit of rage.

He's been very slow to back away from this stupid remark. He's finally tried to backpedal slightly away from his comment, but it seems clear he has no idea (or, if he does, he doesn't care) how bad the American "presence" in Iraq is both for that country and our own. In this affair, McCain's irritability and meanness, his bone-headedness, lack of compassion, and stupidity in international affairs all signal danger.

McCain's comparison of Iraq to Korea shows how vast is his ignorance and incompetence on the international stage. After all, the US has kept troops as a defense force in South Korea for over half a century, not (as might be a better parallel to Iraq) as an occupying force in North Korea.

Yes, McCain thinks that the permanent military presence will be light duty "peacekeeping" - but this is where he is dead wrong!

As others have pointed out, the vicious fighting , human bombs, etc., will continue as long as there is any american military presence in Iraq! So the full-blown war will continue for as long as we are there! De facto McCain means 100 years! And I really don't think that he gives a fuck how many folks get killed or how much money it costs! It keeps the M/I power and money machine going full blast - the neocon vision for the rest of time!

Personally, I don't know about the occupation.

I did oppose the war in the first place before the invasion but now...

If the US leave now, the situation will probably turn into a civil war. At the end of this civil war, it is very likely for one third of the country to become a satellite of Iran; and it is totally possible for another third to become ruled by some kind of Al Quaida/terrorist front.

That would be quite a terrible outcome; unfortunately, I don't have any magical solution to offer...
100 years of occupation, even with regular bombing and soldiers being killed might, horrible as it sounds, indeed be the lesser of the two evils.

That only emphasize the gravity of the mess that lil Georgie has made, of course, but McCain can hardly mention that now, can he?

I predict there will be a lot more McCain statements like the ones you've already got, Mooner, coming out of the steaming pile of nonsense in this video.

I hope McCain is as articulate in presenting his thoughts in his debates with Obama. And yes, what a steaming load...

I'd suspect that many Americans would agree with him though.

By the way 'America was founded on Christian principles' is technically true, in my opinion.
It was founded on humanist principles which are not so prevalent that they happen to also have been integrated in most strains of modern Christianity.

Your suspicion is well grounded. Probably at least half, and possibly substantially more than half of all Americans seem to accept this position. Will it direct their politics? is a big question that Obama has to decide and guide his campaign rhetoric accordingly.

Without appearing to pander, he probably will have to placate the idiotic "Christian values" concerns that the McCain/Rove machine will generate. Every screaming conservative hireling from O'Reilly to Beck, Hannity and Limbaugh is already attempting to paint Obama as a "secular liberal" out to discredit and deny Christianity - literally an agent of the Devil!

Countering this will be a difficult tightrope for Obama to walk, because of the unthinking, sheeplike nature of most Christians of conviction. Logic and rationality don't work - it has to be a visceral message connecting with the limbic system of true believer's alleged brains. Yet this kind of communication becomes demagoguery very quickly! A slippery slope indeed!
