Movies so bad they are fun to watch:
Most of the ones at the top of my list have already been mentioned. It's clear if there ever was an SFN film fest, I'd feel right at home.
A couple of other films occur to me:
*Probably any number of John Carpenter films fit here, though Escape from New York and it's sequel rise immediately to the top.
*Beneath the Planet of the Apes: The first one had it's moments, this sequel was bombastic and silly, but fun. It was essentially a star trek episode (minus the orbiting mother ship). If it was William Shatner instead of James Franscicus (sp?), that bomb (the cobalt one, not the movie) would have stopped on 01 seconds for sure!
One of my first choices would have been The Evil Dead movies. I share other folks' appreciation of Bruce Campbell, and he and Sam Raimi seem to work well together (evil dead films, Xena and Herc). Surely he must pop up in Spider-Man somewhere.
On really good movies that are considered midnite fare:
The original Children and Village of the damned (the second is actually better than the first (weak ending, tho). A cross between Clarke's "Childhood's End" and Henderson's "The People."
By the way, a lot of these films mentioned in this thread are starting to pop up (with no commercials) on AMC anf Turner Classic Movies.

Lets get honest here, some of the highest paid actors in Hollywood have without a doubt also made some of the worst films of all time...
EG., Kevin Costner: The Bodyguard, Waterworld, The Postman, pull out a guide for the 20 or more movies to include.
Sylvester Stallone: OSCAR!!! so bad it caused weeks of migraines after a half hour of viewing!, Rhinestone ("So your from New York huh? Whats it like to have sex with a man and use heroin?), Somethin like "I'm gonna shoot my Mother in the head"(with Estelle Getty), Demolition Man, The Assasin, The last 3 Rocky's, and so on and so on....
EVERY Brad Pitt Movie EVER except Thelma and Louise and Ocean's 11 (bit parts in both)
The only movie to be directed by one of the finest craftsmen ever, and starring 2 HUGELY paid A list Actors... "EYES WIDE SHUT", in my case so I would not cry.
Pretty much all Kevin Smith directed Major Studio pieces of Dung,(indies were GREAT though)
Anything with Mickey Rourke and or Eric Roberts(not"Runaway Train though), after The Pope Of Greenwich Village.
A multitude of geniuses stuck in the wrong places, like.. James Woods, Dennis Hopper, Harvey Kietel(Space flick w Farrah Fawcett and Kirk Douglas?), To many Christopher Walken's to count, Sean Young, the GODDESS Jennifer Beals(Who can out look, think, and act, most actresses today.) and Every SNL character flick ever!(of course not the Blues Brothers, isn't that assumed?)
And on a positive side, to all casting agents, Pleaseee put Mimi Rodgers, Jennifer Beals, Phobe Cates, and Natalie Portman in every movie hence forth made. Please do not forget Anna Paquin, and Reese Witherspoon.
Thank you for your patience,

That movie was great if you like well choreographed fight scenes (which I am a big fan of), but the writer had delusions of adequacy.

Curious, Kevin Smith has only done 5 movies, yes? I'd say the only one that mostly blew was Dogma. And even that one had its moments. And I'd say he redeemed himself with Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back.

Oh, Saturn 3! A truly awful thing... so bad it's almost, but not quite, good. Even the two or three frames of Farrah's tit didn't salvage it; and those are gone in the TV cut.
For the uninitiated, here's a "memorable quote" (the only one that IMDB has for this movie) for a taste of the film's tone:
Benson (the bad guy, to Farrah's character): Yes, you have a great body. May I use it?
-- Donnie B.

That movie wasn't toooo bad. Let's just say I'm glad I saw it at home without having to shell out 7 bucks. Actually, the best thing about the movie was the effect it had on the religious community. Were those guys pissed, or what? I hadn't been that entertained since "The Last Temtation of Christ". Lisa

Speaking of movies, Jack S. Great name you have there, from one of my most favorite movies. Coincidently, although I have a copy of it I was standing in the isle of Costco the other day watching it on one of their TV's. It was about 1/4 into the movie and I couldn't stay for the end but it was fun while it lasted. Yes, Phobe Cates is so cute. Has she been in anything recently? Last I saw of her was Gremlins! But then I haven't been to a movie in many years and when they do come on TV I don't usually watch, most movies today are so bad. I do think Brad Pitt is a good actor. I had heard his name before but didn't know who he was, when a few years ago I saw a movie on TV called 'Kalifornia', didn't know that was him in it at the time (missed the credits, don't pay attention to them anyway). But as I watched, I thought the guy was good, then some time later(weeks) I learned he was that guy. So just from seeing that movie I think he's good, don't know much about his other works. I wouldn't see 'Oceans 11' as much as I'd like to compare it to the original, but Miss Roberts is so ugly and untalented (not to mention that in real life she's a bubble headed boob) I can't stand to look at her and refuse to see any movie that she's in.

He (Smith) obviously had a lot to say about religion; unfortunately he did it by turning every third piece of dialogue into a Dennis Miller-esque rant. I began to cringe when Chris Rock's character opened his mouth. He's just not that kind of actor. Give the man one-liners and politically incorrect material and he's golden.

I have to agree. One of the better films I've seen lately was "Spy Game" with Robert Redford and Brad Pit, a well plotted very gritty spy thriller (this ain't no James Bond, kiddies). I don't want to say anything that would act as a spoiler. Yes, you do have to suspend your disbelief at a couple of points, but it is so neatly crafted that you really don't care.

What was the matter with Seven or 12 Monkeys? For that matter, Fight Club.

Now your slamming Stan? Ok on the first go round Eyes Wide Shut is not going to be everyones favourite, but it one of those films that improve with knowledge and viewings.

I did too (liked 'Waterworld'). In fact so much so that I bought a copy of it, yes, paid cold hard cash for it. Like it not so much for the story or the end of it but the inbetween stuff. Something about floating around on water all the time....cool!

Whoops, forgot to say I didn't see The Postman, don't even know what it's about or who's in it. Don't really care for Costners 'acting'. Must be the style or something because if people think he's good to me it sounds like he's reading the lines off a que card.

I never saw The Postman, but I really like the book it was based on. (David Brin's book of the same title.) While reading the book, I thought this could be good movie. However, it would be easy to degrade into over-the-top sentamentality/cheesiness. Which, from all reviews I've read, is exactly what happened.
I don't want to spoil my fond memories of the book with Costner's direction. (I have no problems with his acting. Bull Durham is one of my favorites.)
