That's waaaaaaay too close to the truth for comfort. I used to be a driving instructor here in Toronto, and there actually was a school owner like that. When a new in-class session started he would stand in front of them and announce that "there was really only one book you need to become a good driver". He then held up a bible.

He's fortunately no longer in business, but he was around for a long time.
