from AANEWS:
quote:
Dr. Michael Newdow, the heroic Atheist who has successfully
challenged the inclusion of 'under God' in our Pledge of Allegiance,
needs your support! Clergy are wailing about the decision, while
beholden politicians scramble to find a way to over-turn the ruling,
even if it means amending our Constitution.

He has his own site, called "Restore the Pledge" at http://www.restorethepledge.com/

The petition can be signed here: http://www.atheists.org/action/newdowpetition.html

* USA TODAY is running a poll that you might wish to participate in.
It asks: "Should the words 'under God' be removed from the Pledge of
Allegiance?" You can vote, and read about efforts to reverse the
Ninth Circuit decision at
http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2002/06/27/pledge-hold.htm

Even though I'm not American, I can appreciate what happens when people rewrite history to suit themselves as the Religious Right has done by adding "under god" to the pledge of allegiance. Remember former president Bush's remarks about atheists not being true citizens of the US because it is "one nation under god"? This is an important petition, and we need to get the news out. That's why Newdow's site is so important.

Good Luck!
I fear that the Talibans in DC will change the Constitution.

Hope I'm wrong.
