In case you missed it, here's a great example of the side effects of quack medicine. Apparently this condition is permanent.

If he's successful, Mr. Jones will be the first Smurf ever elected to the Senate.

Anthrax 'treatment'

He made the solution by electrically charging two silver wires in a glass of water.

"People ask me if it's permanent and if I'm dead," he told the Associated Press news agency. "I tell them I'm practising for Halloween."

Colloidal silver is marketed as an anti-bacterial agent or immune-system booster.

Along with other dietary supplements, it was offered as a treatment for illnesses such as anthrax following bio-terror alerts in the US last year. But there is no scientific proof of its efficacy.

Well, this is all I would have to know about Jones to not even consider voting for him. I feel sorry for any libertarian skeptic, in his state, who has to decide how to vote....

Kil, Kil, Kil.....is this what we call open minded?
I didn't see anything wrong with what was said, he believed he was preventing an illness. Does that disqualify him from deciding other political issues? People make mistakes, it didn't sound like he is a nut case about alturnitive medicine.

Well, I don't think it's any stranger than voting for someone who prays to ghosts.

The article doesn't say whether or not he's still taking it or whether or not he thought it was a bad idea.

Well, lets see. He took the stuff to ward off an illness he didn't have. That would seem to indicate a predilection to paranoia. He kept taking the stuff well after the original threat was shown to be a whole lot of hot air. He excepted the word of quacks. That would seem to show an inability to think critically. Ummmmm, yup, that would disqualify him in my book.

CNN did an article on this and in that one Jones indicated he'd stopped taking the stuff.

Well, it certainly calls into question his ability to make logical, informed decisions on some issues. Would you want this guy voting on health care knowing he thinks that drinking silver cures anthrax?

Besides, can you really trust a Libertarian?

Both of you, Kill....Phys, What you soe, so shall ye reap. Not having read the bible, don't know if that's completely correct but you know what I mean! Go ahead and vote for a non Libertarian and see the country continue to go'down hill'. Could it get any worse just by voting for someone who takes a little 'quack medicine'?

I hope no one thinks that the entire Libertarian party is replete with crack pots. Most are good people with sound judgement, though not all of their ideas are always rational. Is this any different than the Demos or the Repubs? Afterall, hasn't our gov't spent millions on things like polygraphs, psychic espionage, and comittees that spend years investigating Holistic medicine only to find that more study id needed? Which idiot should we vote for?

"Whatcha got there, Phys?"

"Ain't sure Kil, (grunt) but it's a biggin!"

"Looks like a blue marlin."

I said that I felt bad for the libertarians who had Jones as their candidate. I would be hard pressed to vote for any who showed an inability to think rationally and critically. You should worry about that too, no matter who the candidate is. If you are willing to vote for anyone who proclaims that they are libertarian, you have made a conscious decision to lower the bar and turned against your own ideals. If that makes sense to you, vote for Bozo if he claims to be a libertarian.

Actually, Bozo is president, so I guess you would have to pick another clown. Jones perhaps?

I do, now vote stright Libertarian, more so because the 'bar' of the other parties is already to low. But I believe in the platform of the Libertarians. When my party gets stronger there will be more choice within the party to be able to vote for the man instead of the philosophy although I would hope they stay true to each other, unlike the other two big partys who have no integrity now.
Kil, I was also answering you from way back, when....and I remember well, you laughed about my politics....so there!
