There is this huge rock formation that shows up on TV and the movies every week, it seems, for the past 50 years.
Very pointy, they are at a 45 degree angle to the right.
Roy Rodgers shot bad guys from them. Capt Kirk faught the space lizard with the big rubber head on them. SUV's sip around them.
Do you know the movie location rocks I'm talking about? Do you know where they are?

Chatsworth. It's in the north west San Fernando Valley. There were studio's there when I was a kid. Most of it has been developed now, but you can see some of the places where these films were made, still....

Uncertainty may make you uncomfortable. Certainty makes you ridiculous.

The Paramount Ranch in the Santa Monica mountians was a movie ranch. The Sierra Club fought hard to preserve it from delvelopers. It's part of the forest reserve now or some such organization. Very interesting to visit and great photo opts. Another location where some very old Sci-fi and other films were made was the Bronson caves. Haven't been there for years and wouldn't be suprized if they are gone now, but they were in the heart of Hollywood just below the foot hill to Griffth Park. Just some more points of interest to the otherwise horrid city of Los Angeles.

I went on the Internet and found that site, hope it helps, if you are interested in where movies are shot.

Yes, It has been a long time since I have been there. But there was an old western set still standing the last time I visited. I had a friend who lived there, in fact. That is not the place Slater is asking about, but it is a pretty cool place. The Renascence (rip off) Fair used to visit that site. I'm not sure if they still do.

Ok, But I have no idea where he's talking about therefore wouldn't know what place to mention. I was only pointing out that there are and were many such places in case he or others are interested in various movie making sites.

Having been there recently I could see how the faire would fit in to the surroundings. I was only at the 1st couple of original Renascence Faires back before they were so commercial (so I've heard)
And yes the westren buildings are still there, check out that web site I posted. It is neat.

That's right Snake! Send me hundreds of miles in the wrong direction why don't you.
That's what everybody does back in Ireland. There it is considered rude not to help someone who asks for it. So if you are lost and ask directions the person you ask will always give them to you whether they know them or not.
That's how I wound up in the States, I was trying to get to Temple Bar

The site of the Lone Ranger episodes, a long list of western movies too numerous to mention, and non-western fare including Star Trek IV, the Flintstones, and yes, Blazing Saddles, is Vasquez Rocks, off the 14 Freeway near Agua Dulce. The rocks are the result of activity along the Elkhorn fault (part of the San Andreas Fault zone). Mostly sandstone. Big uplift (50 degrees in some places).

That's what people do in San Francisco, so I've heard. I've never asked for direction in that city because of that. But having a perfectsense of direction I never need to anyway. So I assume everyone could just find what they are looking for too.
Good luck Slater, let me know if you need any more help.

Um! Excuse ME! BUT.....talk about sending someone a long way in the wrong direction...."That's right Snake! Send me hundreds of miles in the wrong direction why don't you.", Mr. Slater!!!
Ah, why didn't you say you were looking for the place where the Lone Ranger rode up on Silver and yelled 'Hi Ho, Silver'?
Coincidentally, a few days ago I happened to see a set of DVD's of the Lone Ranger TV show, grabed them up right away. Haven't viewed them yet but, you know I will be taking a good look at the opening of the show, although that scene is burned into my memory. He is my idol.
And BTW, you call that pointy? Yeesh, I was thinking Eiffel's tower pointy. Whatever!
Glad your big mystery of life is answered, finally. Now you can live in peace.

The Vasquez Rocks are on my "lifelist".
Since I've driven my car through the hollow giant redwood, gone to Roswell and Meteor Crater it's one the few things left to do.

Cool!
Give us a jungle when you are out this way. BTW, where are you, not in Calif. I take it? I'd love to go see it too, although my x-sister lives right near there. LOL, probably have driven by without even knowing it.
So, when you plan to go, let us know we could meet. (if you'd like)

Well, that helps......duh! It's been years since I was in Frisco, what's the Full House? A bar, I bet.
California! YOU live in California and THAT's one of your lifes ambitions? LOL, it's not like you have to get on a plane and fly 3,000 miles.
BTW, I'll be in San Jose for a day or two, soon. I'll wave hi to ya.
