You're absolutely right, but the blue baby blanket is used equally. And, sometimes, we find the blanket to be very comforting, regardless of what color it is.
It's just going to take time for all the barriers of gender and race to fall completely, but I think we're on the right road.
News flash! We are not on the right road when, wittness this folder, people, especially women, keep pointing out the 'differences'. |

Not to point out the obvious....but it is the women who are doing the raising. More women are raising bastards...er, um..er I mean...are raising kids in single parent households. Most grade school teachers are women, most child care providers are women.
So who are women complaining to about how young children are taught? |

@tomic the little bastards...er..umm...kids in these households are both boys and girls in equal numbers. That would not single out the boys to be skeptics. |

LOL. Not to speak for @, but perhaps he means it in a general way, like Mankind. And YES, it's MANkind, not personkind for all of huMANity. Hupersonity sounds stupid. All the MANhole covers, chairMEN, and all the other MAN stuff should stay the same. Deal with it! BTW, hurricanes should stay that way too because women are so distuctive. Besides hisacane sounds stupid too. |

I'm new to this board, but I've been involved in many others. This is a very strong group of thinkers you have here by the way. I have noticed no matter what board it is, it's the debate people are after. And what fuels debate......testosterone. It always has. This isn't to say that woman have nothing to say, it just might not be as important to some women as it is to men(debating). I remember one woman in university, it was political science, she would rip the doors off anybody who went agaisnt her. So I know they are out there. |

This is so special. Snake, you really ought to read what you write sometime. Thanks for a really good laugh..... |

But I've found that they (women) don't usually understand the point. Or choose to hear what they want to and don't address the question of the debate thereby changing the direction and meaning of what is being debated. By 'riping the doors off' I take it you mean she yelled or intimedated the opponents. That's not debate. One must listen and then counter by facts or logic a better argument, not hysterics or emotions. |

I actually meant by ripping the doors off, that she knew what she was talking about and had the confidence to share it with anybody. |

This lack of females is apparent in the SFN chat room also. We have only had one female in our Wed. chats. So come to the Wed 7PM PT chat and demand your rights as skeptic females. We can see if the skeptic males can handle it, or if they resort to patronizing chauvinistic comments to protect there fragile male egos. I am sure that they are more enlightend then that (I think) |

Bastards? How enlightened of you. Tell me, do you still call black people niggers? |

What exactly is your point? Can you educate me? Maybe use spell check now and then? |

Slater, you are correct that many families in this country today are head by single-parent females. And while this is true, it doesn't address the question. Why does it seem that women are more likely to be led to the woo woo crap? Or are they? Are they just more vocal about it? Just thought of that. You're in danger if you lump women into a group. It would be so easy to say: well women all have had less access to education etc. Denise and I, although very good friends, have vey little in common. She's a struggling single mother. Very shy (believe it or not), and in her off time she keeps up with friends on the internet, takes her kid places, and reads anything she can get her hands on. Me: 20 years in the military. Married 16 years. No kids, dont't like them. Thinks a sexy birthday present would be a new mulitvoltmeter. So the only thing Denise and I have in common, is that we like to read, and we weren't born with the optional accessories. Me, Denise, Trish, et al. We're not bitching at you guys. The guys are great. We're just wondering what the hell is going on with our 50%. |

Not sure which post of the two above you are resonding to but the fact that you said something about spell check in that way shows my point. If you don't get it you never will but I believe more of the men would than the women. But maybe Lisa could explain though. |
