Over the last several days, we've been hearing about how one of Saddam's kids, the one who's name begins with 'Q', took a billion dollars out of the Baghdad bank and split.
Ignoring the fact that I've never heard of any bank that keeps that kind of cash on hand (maybe some do), how do you haul it away once you've got it? One news report I saw at my son-in-law's house said that three tractor-trailors were used (the cash was in hundreds) and he'd brought a crew to load the trucks.
That made me wish I was a bandit on the Iraq / Syria border. Queasy would need an army to guard it, and all this should have been easy to spot from the air.
One billion dollars ($1,000,000,000, count 'em!), cash money. The more I think about it, the less likely the story seems. What do y'all think?

One of the news networks reported the bank this bil was supposidly taken from bore Saddam Hussein's name. Well, isn't that special? How handy that would be?, the endless supply of freebies: calendars with your face on it, free pens (your name...), free checks/charge cards, again, with your face on it. Oil rigs pipe in the cash; tractor trailers make the withdrawl before hours.
The billion reported stolen was closer to 900 million plus change as I heard it. If you recall Filthy, a few weeks ago U.S. troops, while palace hopping, found some 650 million in greenbacks stashed in some palace room. Speculation is this may be part of that billion taken. Think there was several more millions discovered too, again like it was stashed away.
As long as the high amount of the above "ready" cash found is accurate, plus knowing how devious this regime was, I don't really have any reason to doubt "the Big Heist". (brings to mind that goofy Rat Pack movie, Sammy Davis Jr, Dean Martin, Sinatra...)

Randy,
Qusay alledgedly made off with $1 billion. Only $900 million was in US currency. An additional $100 million was in Euros.
I have heard that the $650 million in US currency may be part of the $1 billion.

Some inane statistics for you:
Reports I read was 900 million dollars, all in 100s.
900,000,000 / 100 = 9,000,000 $100 bills
100 dollar bill weighs 1 gram(all US bills do.)
9,000,000 grams / 1000 = 9000 kilograms
Now time to Americanize the units, 2.2lbs per kg.
9000 * 2.2 = 19800 lbs
19,800 lbs of cash! That is a big frickin' wallet. From what I understand, that will give you back problems if you keep your wallet in your back pocket while sitting down.

Lord o' E, your math sounds pretty close. That seems to me to be a problem to move around. It would require a crew to handle it. And what bank keeps a billion in small bills around?
I dunno. Maybe my administration-induced paranoia is getting out of hand, and I need a good, long, Bushless rest.
