People in the US need to really think about the system and not just repeat the spin they hear because a lot of it is utter crap. Out medical system is "for profit" and the way you keep your profit is to deny health care to sick people. What is there not to get?

That is partly right and wrong. I never heard that Americans think their system is so good. I've found from expierence that it depends who your doctor is and what plan (insurance or otherwise) you have. I think the problem is that the consumer is not informed enough and like you said @ they listen to commericals and news programs that only tell them 1/2 the story. When one goes to a doctor he should know what questions to ask AND answer, that would help in getting the correct medical diagnoses and treatment. As for 'profit', you think a doctor shouldn't spend thousands of dollars and time going to school and not make a good living afterwards? Actually what I wanted to say was, when I've been able to find a 'good' doctor, that is one I could communicate with, I then didn't have a problem getting tests or medication I want. It's a long story in my case but I do think there are good and bad doctors one just has to find the right one. And one more thing, 'denying care', does that really make sense? If as you say it's for profit in other words a business, how long would a business stay 'in business' if they get a bad reputation for loosing costumers? |
