I was really beginning to feel left out. I kept reading about all these people who some grifters in Nigeria offer great sums of money, but no Nigerian has offered any to me.
But finally, my presence and greed have been noticed and shown some appreciation.
Here's the lettet:

And my response, useless as it is went thus:
Dear Mr. Etiebert,
How stupid do you think I am? I only regret that you are not within arm's reach of me, you thieving, little son-of-a-bitch.
Please note raised middle finger.

Alas, my response was in the heat of the moment: I could have done better

I usually tell them to get fucked, then use the Rules Wizard in Outlook to put any future e-mails straight into my Deleted Itmes folder.

Mistakes are a part of being human. Appreciate your mistakes for what they are: precious life lessons that can only be learned the hard way. Unless it's a fatal mistake, which, at least, others can learn from.

I heard of someone who played along with one of these scams, to the point where they were at an airport somewhere waiting for him to show up with a suitcase full of money...

I don't know if it's the same guy, but a Swedish guy (I think) did go very far playing along as an Icelandic fisherman. It was documented on his website, all correspondance. After a while he started to add give away clues in swedish masquerading as Icelandic. It was fun reading for a while, but finally I got bored so I didn't finished reading all letters. But I wouldn't be surprised if this was the guy.
Don't remember the URL, but then, if you don't read swedish, you won't have as much fun anyway. |
