Yes, some more crap, just because I love torturing you guys:
http://www.rr-bb.com/showthread.php?postid=1116908#post1116908
quote: I was watching the news last night and they had some guy on from the A.C.L.U (American Communists Losers Union) anyway, the anchor asked him why he felt the 10 commandments should be taken down from the Alabama Chief Justice's office of Roy Moore and he said because it violates the 1st Amendment of the Constitution. So, I did a little research and the 1st Amendment states:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. Okay, so now I'm scratching my head and wondering what grounds he has? Why do so many of them think that the 10 commandments violates the 1st Amendment? Do they not read the whole Amendment? Sure our government can't make us practice a religion they choose but they sure can't prohibit whatever religion we choose. It's amazing to me how people can look at one Amendment and get two totally different interpretations. It's black and white. It says what it says.
He doesn't seem to realize that when RELIGIOUS symbols are placed on GOV'T property, then it IS a (small) step towards "establishing a religion" Escpecially when you take into account all the talk about "america is a christian nation" from those people!
At the VERY least, the gov't having religious icons on it's property IS showing "favoritism". Isn't that a clear step toward establishment?? |

I suspect that this could progress from a tempest in a teapot to a tornado in the sewage treatment plant, and beyond.
It ain't gonna be pretty, especally if history is being made.

quote: A Christian group is filing a lawsuit Monday charging that taking the 10 Commandments monument out of the Supreme Court building in Montgomery INFRINGES on the rights of Christians...
There was much prayer at the end of the rally in a very touching moment when all the ministers and elders present laid hands on and prayed for the lawyer that will be presenting this case in court. Please add your prayers for him to receive a judge that is favorable to hearing the case...
Could someone explain how in hell that their rights are infringed when it's gov't property and NOT their own private property?? If it was on their own land, and they were asked to take it down, then yes, it'd be an infringement.

Apparently, in their logic, not being permitted to use state power to force their religion on others constitutes persecution, and not having free reign over the use of the taxpayers' property is an infringment of their rights.
