Bush is fishing in TX while our soldiers are getting their ass' shot off in Iraq, and they are supposed to pray for him?

quote:
US soldiers in Iraq asked to pray for Bush
They may be the ones facing danger on the battlefield, but US soldiers in Iraq are being asked to pray for President George W Bush.

Thousands of marines have been given a pamphlet called "A Christian's Duty," a mini prayer book which includes a tear-out section to be mailed to the White House pledging the soldier who sends it in has been praying for Bush.

"I have committed to pray for you, your family, your staff and our troops during this time of uncertainty and tumult. May God's peace be your guide," says the pledge, according to a journalist embedded with coalition forces.

The pamphlet, produced by a group called In Touch Ministries, offers a daily prayer to be made for the US president, a born-again Christian who likes to invoke his God in speeches.

Sunday's is "Pray that the President and his advisers will seek God and his wisdom daily and not rely on their own understanding".

Monday's reads "Pray that the President and his advisers will be strong and courageous to do what is right regardless of critics".

This would be disgusting even if God does exist!

Edited because this pisses me off highly, and when I'm highly pissed, my spelling goes south.

Glad you mentioned that. I thought no one noticed.
Don't know about that story (fishing) but, even though I don't watch the news, flipping through the channels so fast as I do, you can't help seeing something or another. Anyway, Bush is coming out of chruch, I think it was, waving, the voice over says how he spent his Easter day.
My thought was as you, he's safe and happy (with that stupid grin) and giving orders for others to die.
He always looks like he doesn't have a clue.

Have these motherfuckers ever been in the military? Don't they give a shit that it's the fucking Marines that are getting their asses shot at, with Bushling parks his happy ass in fucking safety. What the fuck, are the Marines supposed to quit worrying about getting their fucking ass shot off to pray for a fucking idiot!

I don't know if this is the same gawd my wife talks to, but hers told her to quit her job about a year ago but sure as hell hasn't told her to look for a new one. Maybe he'll do something along those lines for Dubya.

Oh come on Trish. What are you really trying to say? Don't hold back.....

This may actually be good advice since the President and his advisers own understanding has proven itself to be deeply flawed...

Hey, it's not that bad. He's getting his picture taken with his Dad while they fish. What could look better for a campaign ad--A war hero and his kid fishing like a couple o' good old fashioned Americans! This photo op is almost as good as the aircraft carrier.

But, wait! Those fine folks on Air America said they heard the folks over at Rush's EIB Network mention something about postponing the election if we have another terrorist attack on our country. The morning show at AA mentioned something about the good DittoHeads not wanting the "socialists" to take power if those evil terrorists people continue to threaten the very sanctity of our peaceful, democratic existence...

But, unfortunately, our Pres was only able to get one day of fishin' in with the 'crew'. It seems he had to get back to work, or maybe his critics screamed too loud.

And, I wonder if that pond is a stock pond. I mean, if he built the ranch only about four years ago, maybe he built the pond then, too. Or, maybe we, the tax payers, built and stocked that damned pond. Maybe the outdoor TV show crew will mention that. Anyone know when the Roland Martin Show will air?

I've read that this less-than-compentent clown has spent as much as 40% of his term kicking back at Camp David or the family compound in CT, or whipping his weasle in Crawford (something like 260-odd days in Crawford alone).

Damn! He's lazier than I am!

as was and ever shall be.........
Dad used to tell me how he was forced to pray for the King and Queen's safety, while on active service in North Africa, in good ol' WW2 ('Forced', being the right word. An RSM would watch the men praying and anyone not participating would be on a charge).

Hey Ratbag - welcome to SFN btw.

But don't you have a state sponsored religion over there in the UK? Besides, I can really look like I'm preying while thinking about something else. What am I saying, I've been in formation and been instructed to bow my head in prayer, while at Parade Rest.

What's an RSM?

I'm going fishing tomorrow. Went last monday and caught a few (about 30) crappies. Those have all been eaten up. Whilst on the lake, I 'll pray for a bush -- my girlfriend's.

The less important (and far less attractive) Bush is sinking ever-deeper into the cesspool of his own folly. The horrid breakdown in military discipline in Iraq and eleswhere is a sign of an administration so incompentent that it is even farther on the way to self-destruction than I'd thought. No matter how they spin it; no matter how they squirm and blame the grunts and junior officers et al, the responsibility belongs squarely in the White House with our alledged president and his senior staff. And even those of us that won't admit that fact know it just as well as the rest of us.

If you must pray a prayer, pray it for something worthwhile; like an end to this madness, sweet lovin', and decent fishin'.

Can I ask why this gets you guys so riled up if God doesn't exist anyway? I know it looks like they have no compassion for the soldiers, but I would bet that they pray for the soldiers everyday. Many churches I know have around the clock prayer for the war to be over, the soldiers and for President Bush. They are doing what they believe. That a good God will help the President make descisions that will stop the violence.

This is an exceptional idea. Since both sides, especially the leaders, believe that god is on their side. It seems prudent that they stop the bombs and bullets and begin sincere prayer 24x7 for their god to smite their enemies.
