Good Job @tomic.

It's hell out there, my cable server went down yesterday too, and I had to use the *gasp* phone modem.

BTW Randy, loved the 'award' lol. He deserves it too :)
I hope whoever wrote Code Red is enjoying themselves :(

Thanks everyone. I want to say that I believe I have fixed the editing issue...whew. Lemme know if I'm wrong. Sometimes when you hit send, delete, etc. you may get an error. Right click and hit "back" and try again. It usually works. Refresh usually works as well. I'm not making any promises but things seem to be more or less functional.

Everything seems to be working fine. In addition:

1) Pages seem to be loading faster. [Win98, IE5, cable modem]
2) After posting, it automatically reloads the thread (without having to click the 'return to thread' link or whatever it's called.

I'd say you did a heck of a fix job.

Hey @tomic (shouldn't that be @omic?)! Was this all a Denial of Service attack? I got one yesterday; some twinkie was hitting my site through a spoofed IP. I got 73,000 page requests yesterday. They were all for nonexistant pages too. Weird. My sysadmin blocked his address and all is fine. Not that he was doing much damage. Had he had 1000 CPUs working with him he would have shut my site down.

It was like a DoS, but was not really one. The Code Red worm behaves a lot like a DoS but it doesn't go after any one target(ok it goes after the whitehouse.gov domain). Servers just spew attempts to cause buffer overflows at random. Fortunately, firewalls are doing a good job at filtering the random probes.

Somewhere in there, SFN stopped working even though I changed no code. I had to go in and alter the code, code that works for thousands of other Snitz users just fine. But alas, I have no direct access to the server and could not fix it myself

Now I am at work on a new version of the SFN code that will run on an SQL 2000 server. I don't know how long it will take to set up the most essential features but as soon as they're ready I will transfer everything.

The difference should be astounding.

Whew, already got a forum going on the SQL server with a few modifications made. It's really, really fast too. I am hoping, but not promising, that I can move everything by early next week. A few features will definately be out of commission for a while(Polls,My SFN) but most of the rest should work fine. OK, not just fine. They will work wonederfully!!

I sifted through the code and found what may have been the last big problem. SFN should be running faster than ever since I eliminated about 6 instances of database connections and took us down to a single one.

I also added some code to show how many members are in the chat room and who they are in the hopes that it will be used someday
