V, for the last time, I don't hate men. I really like men. I'm blessed to be surrounded by male friends, family members, and lovers who are kind, intelligent, and strong people. My grandfather was my hero, V.
I'm also not a pagan. Someone recently referred to Seattle as a "pagan leftist enclave" and it struck me as a funny phrase. I am a leftist, of course. But I don't do religion; I see no need for it in my life.
I shouldn't have used that kind of vulgarity with you. I get irritable when I'm sick (and I'm home sick today.)
I was angered by your post because you seem proud of the violence committed by our troops. Whether or not the Iraq war is justified has been debated endlessly, here and everywhere, and isn't really the point.
It bothers me that you lack the humanity to see the tragedy in the deaths of the Iraquis, regardless of which "side" they are on. It's possible to feel regret and sadness for the deaths of Americans and Iraquis. Neo-cons love to create random false dichotomies like this one. The key word here, though, is false.
I also get angry when you and other right-wingers use the phrase "Remember 9/11" not as an expression of genuine compassion but instead as a political tool to bludgeon anyone who expresses dissent or asks hard questions about the wars on terror and Iraq.
I do remember 9/11. I wept along with the rest of my country. I will not, however, use 9/11 as dispensation for America to do whatever it wants on the international stage.

What it is, Dude, I like it here. Here, We can verbally rough-house without worrying about getting banned. However, if we go over the top, sooner or later, @tomic will be forced to turn his site into one of those where all the members are a bunch of snivvling pussies who are afraid of the moderators. No more mix-it-up. I've been kicked off those sites for far less than what I've posted many times here.
True, sometimes we get caught up in the heat of the moment. At that time, we must pause and consider what we are saying. If you will read back in various threads, you will find that I have apologised to verlch on several occasions.
Verlch and others even more outragious can be frustrating; no one knows that better than I. But had I the authority, I would not ban them nor even hollowly curse them, and certainly not threaten. That would take away the oportunity and the sweet pleasure of verbally flaying them alive and nailing up their bleeding hides on the side of the shed.

Bullshit! The unchangable fact remains that we had no reason to invade Iraq. Further, I rather doubt that that unhappy country will ever be stable as long as we have troops there.
A woman president must be able to address all issues regardless of gender, regardless of political affilation; same for a man. I really don't care whether the prez is a mna of a woman as long as the candidate is honest and qualified. Unfortunatly, what we have now is neither.
