Great googa mooga!  I can't believe that thing is still being bandied about! I'd thought everybody was hip to it by now.
That is an April Fools gag, one of the best ever, pulled off some years ago and is entirly a mockup. It was swallowed hook, line, sinker and most of an arm by various fundie groups. The dino is IDd as an allosaure. The H. sapiens is IDd as suprised.
You have no idea how delighted I am to see it still pullin' 'em in!

Umm... since the Bibleland Studios site is promising a big revelation about the photos on January 1st- and using it to try to get people to sign up for their mailing list...
I have a hunch that they're aware of the joke.

Two things I'd like to point out:
1) We have discussed Bibleland Studios before, and even had a few visits from the president, John Adolfi. As far as I know, it's no parody site.
2) In another post on the same Bibleland page as linked in the OP, about halfway down the page, someone says,Cockatoos lay their eggs in nests of other bird species. They make their eggs resemble the other species both in color, markings and size! How many facts are wrong in just those two sentences? |

My hand was up first!
Cuckoos, not cockatoos pirate the nests of other birds. They do nothing to disguise their eggs, which are considerably larger rhan those of the host species, as is the hatchlig. The hatchling has a blind pushing reflex and any object in the nest with it, such as the host's eggs or chicks, will be pushed out.
Untimatly, the hosts feed and care for a single chick much bigger than themselves.
A cockatoo is an Ozzy parrot.
So Ricky, they are hip to it, then. I should have read the site closer. But thus, the joke becomes: it certainly took enough years for it to sink in, and look at the cuckoo egg all over on my creationist face!
Don't ya just love it when a plan not only comes together but has staying power? I never thought I'd hear about this again beyond mentioning it myself, here and there.

If they're choosing their words carefully, this is a giveaway that they're in on the joke. IOW, they know that it's an artifact, that is, something made by the hand of man, and not a fossil.
There are actually Christians who prefer not to wrap their religion up in a lot of political and scientific nonsense, and some even enjoy poking some fun at how easy it is to market looniness if you slap a Jesus sticker on it. Take a look at The Holy Observer if you need evidence of this.
Is this another example? We'll just have to stay tuned...  |

I don't buy it, ktesibios. Just a few sentences before what you quote, they say,The Conclusion to our story contains further investigation and evaluation of this fossil... (emphasis mine) On another note, they also say,One evening in early December I picked up the latest copy of a certain Australian Creation Science newsletter and began thumbing through the pages. Suddenly without warning there they were! The Photos. (emphasis theirs) This would indicate, filthy, that whether or not the folks at Bibleland Studios know the joke, the people writing the Australian Creation Science newsletter are not (whoever they are). Unless the newsletter itself is a part of the joke that Bibleland is trying to pull. |

At this point, Dave, I don't know and am hesitant to guess. Fundies write in sometimes curious ways and, we've all seen 'fossil' and 'artifact' used interchangably.
I'm just tickled to see that marvelous gag back in circulation. It was so very well done!

Well, I hope that Ricky is correct and he's already on the mailing list that they're going to send the finale to.
It appears that they're not going to put it up on the Web site for a while after New Years- and I dislike having to wait too long for a punch line.
