And of course, The Rude Pundit has some thoughts on the matter, oh-ho, oh-ho, oh-ho, oh-ho-ho-ho!

Over at AMERICAblog, they've noted that the idiots at Time include a staged photo by a GOP front-group to "prove" how hated Coulter is by the left. Of course, if it's all an act to give Democrats a bad name ("Communits for Kerry"? Come on!), then the photo has little value.
So much for our "liberal" media!
Apparently, Time was made aware of their error. Now, of course, the photo makes far less sense, but it is Time we're talking about... |

Al is usually pretty good with his facts. He scores another bullseye against the 'right' leaning media. |

It really is one of the worst photographs possible. If I were the editor of this piece, I'd insist on something a little less 'artistic.' But then, if I were this editor, I'd scream, "Drivel!" and shitcan the whole thing, anyway.
Why, you ask? Simple; if a magazine piece needs 6,000 words to describe someone, it is not competently written. I'll bet that I could do it in less than half that, if I could avoid being overcome with nausea at the subject.
I'm waiting to see the comments on it when it comes out.

Not bad; not too shabby at all. But, you gots to flesh it out a little bit: "Irresponsible, hate-peddling skank who's ears is put on crooked, feets stink, and don't love Jesus nowhere near as much as she sez."
Now, that's writing!

The best thing Cloud can do, and what I would do in his shoes, is to cash the check and keep his mouth shut. The more the fool talks, the more he buries himself: "When you find yourself in a hole, stop digging!"
But, he's a staff writer and I've heard that they can never put down the shovel due to slave-driving editors and greed inspired publishers who would rather roast and eat their own colons than pay a farthing to a free-lancer. Poor, sad bastard...
It really is a wretched photo -- can't blame Coulter for being a bit ticked over it, especally with her ego. It sort of turns a serious (I assume) piece into low humor. I wasn't going to bother, but now I think I'll read it. I doubt if I'll be able to slog through almost 6,000 words of Coulter, but I'll get the gist of it. quote: Too much. This individual does not deserve such attention.
You've got to put in a little description; a little color lest your readers not know who you're talking about. There are so many irresponsible hate peddlers around these days that you can hardly tell who's who without a scorecard.

From reporter, Cloud, in the article:quote: It was slash-and-burn, on both sides. Her side won, rather decisively,
"Rather decisively"? I think that distorted version of reality tells us where his political preferences lie. He seems to discount his account of Coulter making a "few" mistakes as no different than what everyone else is saying about her. I don't think he hears, "Coulter tells lie after lie". |

Here's a review of the article: quote: Time Covers Coulter: Magazine's Cover Story a Sloppy, Inaccurate Tribute to Far-Right Pundit
Action Alert (4/21/05)
A week after she was praised in Time magazine's "100 Most Influential People" issue (4/18/05), the magazine went a step further by making far-right pundit Ann Coulter the subject of a lengthy April 25 cover story. Readers who might have looked for a critical examination of the overexposed, factually challenged hatemonger found something else: a puff piece that gave Coulter a pass on her many errors and vicious, often bigoted rhetoric.
Throughout the article, Time reporter John Cloud gave Coulter every benefit of the doubt. Her clear, amply documented record of inaccuracy was waved away. Coulter's notoriously vitriolic hate speech was alternately dismissed as a put-on or excused as "from her heart," while the worst Cloud could say about her was that she can "occasionally be coarse." Time readers learned that Coulter is an omnivorous reader (one of exactly two examples of her consumption being the Drudge Report website), and that she regards herself "as a public intellectual." Coulter, who writes a syndicated newspaper column and makes frequent cable news appearances, is dubbed "iconic" by Time because she "epitomizes the way politics is now discussed on the airways."
In reality, there are few who "discuss" politics the Coulter way-- by smearing opponents as traitors, calling for a renewal of McCarthyism and endorsing the killing of reporters.
If this article is even close to accurat, Time has wasted 5,800 words worth of space fluffing Coulter.
