Here in Sweden, theres been mail with powder sent to politicians.
No anthrax of course, but it seems like weirdoes and extremists now has a cheap way of intimidating politicians they dislike. |

The scary part is, is that the Postal Service, is such an important part, of American Culture.
For a good example of this, read the book The Postman, by David Brin.
But avoid the Movie, like the Plague. Turkey Alert. Turkey Alert.

I have seen web board mention of anthrax hoaxes at Planned Parenthood offices and abortion clinics (talcum powder sent in envelopes) but I can't find anything on any of the news sites. Is there anything to this?

Yes, and unfortunately, there's nothing new to it.
Furthermore, it is doubted that Attorney Dumbass Ashcroft, will do Anything, about it!

Does anyone but me think the panic over this is just a bit overblown?
I've just returned from the Dallas-Ft. Worth area. Watching the local news was a blast. Bio-HazMat teams are having to respond to everything from powdered sugar to talcum powder.
There's much more panic and silliness in the near future. The initial stages of anthrax infection can mimic the flu. Let's see, it's October right now, so in about a month expect to see some very overworked labs.

Nope, you're right, it's overblown. Only one person has died. We should be vigilant, of course, but when this happens, we're overreacting:

No doubt about it, the hysteria is out of control. The University of Texas evacuated a building after receiving a report of "white powder" in a room. Never mind that the room directly above was being remodeled Also just heard on the news about a family in a Maryland suburb of D.C. who called 911 and evacuated their house because there was a white powder on the fruit in a bowl on their dining table. Mold

How about the postal workers who panicked after donning latex gloves, then seeing white powder everywhere? The talcum (or whatever) that latex gloves have all over them had been spread around from the work.

The really scary part, is that under International Law, we are now permitted to use Nuclear Weapons, against those who ordered the use of Anthrax.
While I doubt that it will come to that, this War could very easily, Go Chemical, soon after the Ground Troops land.
Futhermore, don't be surprised, if it is US Forces, who use them First!
