God help us all, this is not a joke!
The sodding Yahoo link won't work, just google it. EDIT: Here's a link
quote: BOSTON (AP) - On April 25, Gregory Despres arrived at the U.S.-Canadian border crossing at Calais, Maine, carrying a homemade sword, a hatchet, a knife, brass knuckles and a chain saw stained with what appeared to be blood. U.S. customs agents confiscated the weapons and fingerprinted Despres. Then they let him into the United States.
quote: The following day, a gruesome scene was discovered in Despres' hometown of Minto, New Brunswick: The decapitated body of a 74-year-old country musician named Frederick Fulton was found on Fulton's kitchen floor.
His head was in a pillowcase under a kitchen table. His common-law wife was discovered stabbed to death in a bedroom.
The reasons they let him in just get more and more stupid. If I hadn't seen the news article myself, I'd swear it was a sick parody.
Speaking of sick, check out the guy's picture.

What brought that on? this. Original posting here.
Another example of this guy's lunacy here. |

Having lived on the Canada border, chainsaws traveling back and forth is not all that uncommon. Can't say about the gore on it. It might not have been noticable, and some of those older chainsaws are pretty funky-looking. What suprised me was that he was let through with the kunckle-duster, et al.
I saw it on Sludge this morning. Might be able to link it through there.
Correction: I linked it off Buzzflash. This one should work, but doesn't. It works at Buzzflash, though

Yeah, they detained the guy for 2 hours and checked for warrants but nothing came up. They couldn't be sure the stain on the chainsaw was blood and not just rust or paint. They really had no choice but to let him go. He looked suspicious, but you can't hold someone indefinitely for that.

I'm pretty sure that there is an easy test to determine if blood is human, it seems that in the hours he was detained at the border they could have had some local crime scene people check it out.
A chainsaw with human blood on it should be enough to hold somebody longer than two hours, I'd think.

Didn't know that. Thanks.
However, it's never stopped the current administration from declaring someone an enemy combatant due to their looks and ship him off to Gitmo. |

Although US customs can't prevent a chainsaw weilding madman from entering the country, it's good to know that when a real threat comes along we can count on them. |
