The attacks have begun...
Kandahar airport is destroyed, key positions around Kabul hit, other targets under fire. British and American forces involved in operation.

Yep, and this is just Phase 1 of N.
Now we wait to see where the next terrorist cell strikes. I hope it's nothing even close to the scenarios in the "Al Quaida Nukes" thread.

Terrorists are terrorists. Whatever we do will have nothing to do with their retaliation. There is no rationality in their decisions to kill innocent Americans. If we can knock out a lot of them, then there are fewer of them to worry about. We can retaliate better than they can retaliate, anyway. Just wait and see.
They have brought this upon themselves. We have given enough time for the innocent citizens to get themselves out of harm's way. I feel certain that we will do everything in our power to keep the innocent civilians of Afganistan fed and housed, etc. Those who have stayed next to *his highness* are *one of them* and will get whatever is coming to them.
I am glad that time has been given to let the innocent civilians escape.

Did anyone see the news clips of the trucks taking the food-aid into Afghanistan? All the bags had "USA" stamped onto them with foot-high letters. Is it just me, or is there some high level irony going on here? I'm not making fun of this situation, really. As a matter of fact, my husband got on a plane Friday morning, headed to Qatar. If I don't keep things light, I'll have a case of the screaming meemies. Lisa

"Wait and see ?!!?" Hell no, hit'm again, harder, and throw out a few more "USA #1" box lunches, too. However and wherever, they hit us, they would have done so anyways in time, had we done nothing but wring our hands. Today was just "preparing the field." The real work hasn't begun, down and dirty, on the ground, good hunting guys.
What will be interesting, is seeing our true enemies openly declare themselves. As well as if there really are any civlized voices within Islam, that will stand and speak out against those of the fundamentist terrorists, IMO.

What is going to be tested is the stability of the governments of some Arab nations. It's not necessarily that a country that doesn't want us to help is an enemy. There is a lot of worry about civil unrest. Part of this problem is that our good buds in the middle east are basically dictatorships. Take away the dictators and...

I turned on the news this evening and there was a report on campaign of bombing the Taliban. This was followed immediately by a report on the campaign to drop food and medicine into Afganistan. So basically, we are sending planes into Afghanistan to drop food, medicine,...and bombs. There is something just a little surreal about this whole "war".
Of course, since the Taliban control most of Afghanistan, I wonder who they think is really going to end up with the food and medicine we drop? I'm betting it won't be widows and orphans.

You think that's surreal? The "drug war" has had me scratching my head for years. On one side our drug using public pumps billions into the drug cartels on the other we pump billions to the government to fight the drug cartels. They are getting our cash both ways!! LOL
Depending on how you look at it it starts to resemble a bad joke. Too bad it's with our money.

Most of the refugees on on the border. They're been sorely abused by their own countrymen, under the name of "taliban". We need to help these folks out if we can. The taliban has done their best to kill any Afghani who doesn't agree with them. As for the assholes in the taliban....look up. My husband is one of the people building the bombs. He's very good at his job. Hey Taliban.... What you see coming at you is SWAK from Ed. The last time he was in Qatar, a drunk Iraqi cut him across the ribs. Nothing serious, but he has a small scar. So he broke the drunk's legs in three or four places. There's probably a metaphor there. Lisa

Speaking of surreal, I can't wait for the next installment of "Apocalypse Now - Camel Dung". There will be some production problems, however. Martin Sheen is getting a bit too portly to play in the next sequel. And I haven't the foggiest who would make a good Osama. You'll have to nix the riverboat in favor of an Apache helicopter. Then, there's the sequence of someone air-surfing out the back of the 'copter while dropping food packets with their left hand, grenades with their right, and looping their combat boot through the tow rope, but I'm sure Hollywood will come through.

Ed's doing fine, I just got an e-mail from him this morning. There's an Islamic conference starting in Qatar, and he says security is super tight. Should be interesting to see what sort of announcements come out of it.

How about Ben Stiller?
Adam Sadler? Jim Carey?
I don't like either one's films.
