.... he'll have a pardon (if he doesn't ALREADY) in his hand way before any cops show to arrest him.

But that is a heartwarming little pic

Too true, too true.

But at least the pigfucker would be disgraced enough that he'd be finished in politics.

But he should get a stake through the heart and be buried face-down under a stone, just to be on the safe side.

Karl Rove. This wonderful bag of crap is the author of Bush's campaign and foreign policy. He is suggested to be behind the release of the name of a CIA operative who happened to be married to an ambassador. That's a felony here in the states.

I do like the new doctored up pic they have of him at Gitmo.

I ain't countin' this chicken 'till it's cut up and in the skillet.
quote:
Here is the transcript of O'Donnell's remarks:

"What we're going to go to now in the next stage, when Matt Cooper's e-mails, within Time Magazine, are handed over to the grand jury, the ultimate revelation, probably within the week of who his source is.

"And I know I'm going to get pulled into the grand jury for saying this but the source of...for Matt Cooper was Karl Rove, and that will be revealed in this document dump that Time magazine's going to do with the grand jury."

Other panelists then joined in discussing whether, if true, this would suggest a perjury rap for Rove, if he told the grand jury he did not leak to Cooper.

But if it's true, can I claim the Power of Prophecy? There's good money in the Nostradamus grift...

And if it's indeed the McCoy, what are Rove's choices if he goes unpardoned (unlikely)? Perjure himself, or face a charge that could go as high as treason?

And if pardoned by Bush for these very serious crimes, as would most likely happen, what effect might that have on how our conservative friends view the administration and it's policies? Would a large percentage change their minds?

If this is true, it couldn't happen to a nicer weasle.

Maybe a pardon by Bush would be grounds for impeachment.

Can't impeach a president for excercising the pardon. They all do it, usually they save up a bunch till the end of their term, then they let a bunch of their friend's friends go free.

Apparently they can impeach a president for lying about having sex, but they won't impeach another president for launching a war, sacrificing many thousands of lives against a dictatorship that did not attack the USA.

Diversity, independence, innovation and imagination are progressive concepts ultimately alien to the conservative mind.

Let's just say that Rove was the source. Wouldn't that require that Novak had already fingered him before the Grand Jury hearings back in early '04? If not, wouldn't that leave open charges of tampering, perjury or who knows what else? Let's face it, Judith Miller never was a partisan hack. She routinely attacked the previous administration and agreed to go embedded. Plus, Time, Inc. is giving up Matt Cooper's notes to keep him out of prison. Novak, on the other hand, seems to be a forgotten part of this whole crazy story.

Furthermore, if Rove was the source and Novak didn't identify him, it's unlikely he'll ever see the inside of a courtroom. This would require the major media outlets to actually do their jobs and hire a few investigative journalists. Then, if the Rove link did break into the mainstream as a front page story the Republican spin machine would kick into high gear.

The story wouldn't be denied. Instead, they'd send out the daily talking points about how bad natured and unethical the Democratic attack dogs were while simultaneously and ruthlessly attacking every person that had anything to do with breaking the story. Plus, they'd cherry pick one small, but questionable quote or memo to discredit the entire story as they come down hard on the mainstream media editors and publishers, (like threaten to pull their invitations to the next big corporate sponsored, high society, DC kegger). One media source will knuckle under, then apologizes for their 'mistake'.

Suddenly, the story is magically replaced by Bob Novak's proclaimation that the 'liberal media' is once again caught in their own web of deceit.

In the end, the bad guys go free and the honest folks with real integrity are villainized. How many times have we seen Rove run this scam? I'm sure even the Chimp has the SOP's down pat by now.

As long the the Republicans are in control of all branches of gov't, there will be no serious challenge. Even if the administration has become bad news on Capital Hill, mid-term election campaigns are already gearing up. Scandals reflect badly on the party, and the middle of the road, uneducated voters are a fickle lot.

What's worse is there's nothing we can do about it. As long as the majority of the states are red states, the make up of the Legislature won't change much without high ranking GOP officials doing jail time.

Edited to add; I really did love that Photoshop rendition of Karl Rove from Malloy's blog.

Has anyone yet explained why Novak isn't being held in contempt as well? If he already gave up his source the rest of this wouldn't be going on would it? It's so fishy.

No one has yet explained it in my hearing. There is a conjecture floating around the web that Novak dropped a dime on Rove in a deal. That has yet to be substantiated, but sounds pretty good.

What I'm reading now is that Cooper will go to jail in spite of the Times notes, if he doesn't ID his source. It's an interesting problem. Even though his testimony might be moot, should he finger that source and risk losing confidence with other sources, or should he do the bit and retain his professional integrety even though Time has already blown it? Rock & Hard Place, eh?

I would love to see Novak given the same treatment as Cooper and Miller, but at this point, I don't think it will happen. I would further be interested in finding out what Bush knew and when he knew it. He's a vindictive, little pustule and might have instigated it himself.
