This is quite funny, coming from someone who just spent two paragraphs railing against "irrelevant shit" when the following single sentence would have done:quote: My point was that slave master killing indians wrighting a declaration of independence about freedom is a slight conradiction, that was my point.
Oh, the irony of that situation is quite obvious. What does that have to do with the "Mystery Schools?" |

More ad hom. And purile at that.
It doesn't even qualify as ad hom, it's insulting, pure and simple. Had I been a moderator in this section, I'd been sorely tempted to delete it since it's only detrimental to communication.
I suspected that HYBRID was a minor halfway through the astronomy-thread, and this latest historical blunder was so big even I could spot it, and I'm not even American. English is not my native language, but someone with college-level education should have better communication skills than HYBRID. It should be obvious that everyone here take great care writing their posts. This being a text-based forum, if you write and express yourself like a young teen, you should be prepared to be viewed as such.
"When in Rome, do as the Romans do" is a good proverb. Here at Skeptic Friends Network we prefer substance and quality over quantity. We'd rather see you make one post per day with some thought behind it, than ten quick retorts to things that upset you. This will greatly increase the signal/noise ratio of the posts, and reduce the likelihood of other SFN-members coming back with inflammatory responses.
HYBRID, please take some time to learn the forum code to get the quoting and other formatting right. And please do re-check you posts for grammar and spelling before posting, to avoid embarrassing mistakes such as the "four fathers". Remember, quality over quantity, even if it takes a little more time.
If you cut-and-past between the browser and a good word-processor, you may even get the word processor to alert you on funky grammar automatically. I myself, use IEspell extensively, (the number of corrections vary depending on what time of the day I'm writing. My spelling usually get better late at night, unless I've imbibed alcohol.) it's a great tool for spell-checking input fields in the browser. Unfortunately it doesn't do grammar checks yet.

I apologize for jumping in late here, but what class, exactly, is it that teaches "mystery schools"?
This is a vast amount of knowlegde. I will adress this after these stupid comments made below.
Once again, I really want to know what this is about. So if you (yes, you HYBRID) might ditch this odd US history tangent and get back to mystery schools and their 5000 year old origins, I'd be happy. And since you said you were going to, you might want to stick to that. |

Mab, I'm sure he's just checking back in his old textbooks so he can dutifully reference his assertions about "mystery schools" and such. No doubt he'll return soon! |

Perhaps you can enlighten us, oh great teacher. |

Conspiracy theories attract everybody. It's only the uneducated and illiterate that continue to believe in them. I bet the majority of people on this board like them as exercises in common sense. |

"The thing about conspiracy literature is that it's perfect for stupid people who want to seem smart and ground their hatred in something completely mystical and confusing, and it's good for smart people who are too lazy to do their homework. People can't argue with it without possibly implicating themselves." -- Marc Maron, The Jerusalem Syndrome
