Or, one can look here if one gets an error message, as I did.

(And I can't help but note that Kwayera's image has physical problems of its own, though not the same as bigbrain's Saturn, but it is nicer on the eyes than that cartoonish pap.)

Acutally, filthy, the point that bigbrain is trying to make with the silly Saturn graphic is that just like in photos from the Moon, in pictures of Saturn, you can't see any stars behind it. bigbrain has graciously, but stupidly, put that stars "back" into the scene where he thinks - incorrectly - they should be.

Of course, what it really means is that bigbrain doesn't have a clue about how cameras work. And so I sincerely hope he doesn't injure himself snapping family photos while on vacation.

I thought he was implying territoral conquest -- sometimes bb can be a little confusing. Perhaps he'll return soon and set us straight.

I recall that after the Lunar Landings there were some folks who were insisting that the moon should be claimed as US proporty and others that arguing that it should belong to everybody, and still more that didn't particularly want it, either way. Heady days, those!

I read a sci-fi novel a while back in which they portioned out moon to countries according to its orbit.

The logic behind it was that a country had the rights to it's land, subterrain, and the aero-space above it. They made the logical extension of the air up to Lunar orbit, and assigned land on the moon according to how much the Lunar orbit intersected the nation's boundary.

The art, though beautiful, has some interesting astronomical problems if it really existed.

First, the dual rings are too close to the equator and too large.
Second, the moons are too close together in orbit of the planet to be stable.

But that's just what I'm thinking is wrong.

It is really nice and since it purports to be a planet that only exists in the imagination of the artist, I have no problem liking the picture.
