I find myself reminded of the post I made, lo these many pages ago , where I demonstrated that you can indeed balance a coke can on your fingertip. All it takes is little ingenuity and a big funnel. The same applies to the moon lander, albeit on a grander and more complicated scale.

Your posting style seems familiar. Perhaps some sock-puppetry by bigbrain to get someone to agree with him?

I wonder if someone could do an IP check on both posters to see if there is some chicanery in our midst...

Chicanery? At SFN?!! Not possible!.... Is it?

Oh, say not so!

Might be telling, if not particularly interesting, to see if breakballs gets involved in any threads other than this one. If he's a'trollin' or a'sockin', he probably won't.

Might be he's just another benighted soul who's been hanging at the moon landing hoax sites and needs some accurate info to offset their nonsense.

One hopes....

The reason I said that is the "I am a helicopter pilot" statement, which, if we recall, bigbrain had a big diatribe on helicopters in one of the earlier tomes. Just sounded suspect to me...oh well it doesn't really matter.

Hello, bigbrain. Couldn't get anyone to agree with you here so you had to invent a new persona?

Sock-puppetry is discouraged here.

And how exactly, is that absurd? Can't you balance a coke can on your fingertip? I can...

Are you using a full coke can?

Are you using a full coke can?

Coke and Pepsi. et al, are poisonous substances and are not to be found in my house. I used a can of beer, and yes, it was full (although I've yet to try it with a tallboy). It was done thus: I took a big, plastic funnel and sawed off the spout. Into this, I attached a short piece of 7/8 inch dowel. To that, I glued on a scrap of plywood. The can sat on the plywood with the funnel hanging down over my hand, held up by my finger tip. It worked nicely, and the reason I went through all this is to make sure I could do it before I put forth the idea. If it hadn't worked initally, I'd have simply added weight to the funnel rim until it did work.

The lander worked the same way, except in place of a funnel, it had gyroscopes and thrusters.

Do not sell, the science short. Many problems that look vastly complicated actually have quite simple solutions.

Try to balance it without the funnel.
