Searched around the file cabinet. What a chore. I need to delete more often. I wouldn't have this problem if friends in the Azores would stop sending me urban legends.
quote:

You can become a saved born again Christian (believer) right now whoever or where ever you are and be on your way to Heaven. Here's how:

Just call on JESUS!

Jesus said, "I AM THE DOOR, IF ANYONE ENTERS BY ME, HE WILL BE SAVED..." John 10:9.

The Bible says, "FOR WHOSOEVER SHALL CALL UPON THE NAME OF THE LORD SHALL BE SAVED." Romans 10:13.

My friend, just pray the following prayer out loud so that you can hear it with your own ears and mean it from your heart: "Dear Jesus, I believe in YOU. I believe You are the Son of God. I believe You died for my sins. I believe you were buried and rose again on the third day as it is written in the Bible. Please save me Jesus. Forgive me for all my sins. I confess You now as my Lord and Saviour. Fill me with your Holy Spirit. Thank You, Lord Jesus!"

This also had about 9 links with it. I didn't open any of them. Not only because I wasn't interested, but anyone stupid enough to send me this in the first place probably has to move his lips when he reads. No thanks for buggy/virus laden links.
Too bad I deleted the real classic of the bunch. There were a bunch of crosses in the subject line. Anyone else get that one?

Excuseeee ME!!!!!!
I move my lips when I read, sometimes. Even occasionally read out loud to try to understand the content. I would never forward anything like that to you. Nor do I like getting it.

But if you're gona call me stupid..........

Okay, how about "moves lips while reading own name"? Didn't mean to insult.

OK, well, you got me there. I don't do that but I do have to think sometimes when signing a check or something, about how to spell my name.

Don't get nit-picky. At least you know how to breath from your nose, and your IQ is greater than room-temperature. Bad Snake! Down boy!

I read in a scientific journal (Science or Nature, I believe) that people who talk to themselves are SMARTER than people who don't. So do not worry about talking to yourself. It is only intellectual practice, after all. When one is talking to oneself (hopefully alone, by oneself), one is practicing communication skills.

So do not worry about talking to yourself (even if you answer yourself, I guess). There are many greater things to worry about than what others might think of your little personal habits.

Then again, people who dislike people who talk to themselves, might have a problem themselves, because bothering oneself about the idiosyncracies of others is a little ridiculous (stupid?). Such busybodies should work on their own habits and forget about the habits of others.

Whenever my e-mail site begins getting SPAMMED, I close down that e-mail site and notify my friends about it, then select a new e-mail site. I continue to use the thus-restricted website for other things, but without the ridiculous heavy load of e-mail.

I don't bother to close the old site down. Sez I, let the crap pile up in there, who cares? I have another mail box that gets no spam and that's the one I use. If that one starts getting clogged (it hasn't in 3 years), I'll move again.

Incidently, there's nothing wrong with talking to yourself, nor is there any fault in answering yourself. It's when you talk to yourself and then say, "Huh?" is when you might have a problem.

luck,

Cool. I wear a Cobra ring myself but Rattlesnakes are good too.
Now! Speaking of talking or rather language really. Here's the question we are working on in my class now: Does language make me think the way I do?
If you lived on an island with no one to talk to would you need words (language) for things?
Does language make you intelligent?

If backwards like Yoda talked you, falling down stairs backwards would also you be? Personally, I think verbal sophistication helps some kinds of abstract thinking. But at the same time there is much to be said for non-verbal intuition--a "mechanic's feel" for the way things go together, for instance. Interesting idea, Snake.

I don't know how Yoda talks but tell me Ed, you are a Dawkins fan, right?
Thanks, also but it's not my idea. Wish I could take credit. It's a philosophical question and highly debatable. In class we are doing, what Decartes would say to Hume about that, for example.

Sooooo....

Talking to myself all the time is nooooo problem, except for the asking myself, 'Huh? Now what exactly did I mean by that!?' for clarification of something I just thought up.

OK. Well, that's good to know. However, is debating with yourself a good sign or a bad one?

I haven't yet read Descartes there Snake and only a bit of Hume...however, thought must have originally led to organized speach otherwise, why would we need, or feel compelled to express ourselves to the outside world. Would we not have remained animals that grunt with no further need to communicate than to warn of danger? I think that thought causes our abstraction of speach.

It is by the goodness of God that in our country we have those three unspeakably precious things: freedom of speech, freedom of conscience, and the prudence never to practice either of them. -Mark Twain

I usually leave the debating to the angel on the right shoulder and the devil on the left. It keeps them busy and gives me more time indulge in other matters
