...against an 11 year old?
My daughter plays chess (and is thoroughly whipping me - repeatedly) and needs someone a little better than I to play against. So, if you want to play a game or two against her - let me know and we'll set up the chess board.
Thanks!

Have you ever been to the MSN Gaming Zone? Chess is one of the many games there and since at some parts of the day over 100,000 are there playing various games at one time odds are she can find some good competition.
While there are a few premium games, chess is free.

LOL. I taught my boy to play chess when he was 3. I beat him the 1st game, he beat me the next 2 we played that day. I've never played with him since. So you are right Trish, give up, ha ha. He plays computer chess. Have you thought about that?

Yeah, I have thought about computer chess - which is why she has chessmaster 8000. She wants to play against real opponents. She's tromping all over everyone in the chess club at school too, it's getting to where they don't want to play against her either.

Cool, I'll have to point her there.
Sure.

Not there either. Will have to try that as well.

I finally got around to watching the movie 'Searching for Bobbly Fisher' a couple of weeks ago. Have you seen it? If so you know what I'm going to say. If not watch it. Might help you find her partners of her skill level. BTW, it was IMO, a very well done, well rounded movie and story.

Funny you should mention that. We checked it out from the library a couple weeks ago. Excellent movie. (I really don't want to push her like the father did - I really don't.) I just want her to enjoy playing the game. Enjoyment for her comes in the challenge. Ah, the park?

That's why I say it's a well rounded movie, it gives the POV of all the participants. And the boy didn't let his father push him. Not really. It also pointed out that Bobby Fisher stopped when it wasn't satisfiying to him either. You would be only opening up the door, I don't see how that is pushing. Only showing her the possibilities. If she didn't want to compete, you know you won't force her. Unless you are saying that by putting her in that situation, it's preasure just by the nature of doing so. Anyway, it was just a suggestion, one more way to find opponants. Maybe from that you can think of other ideas.
