Dr. Miller is knowledgeable about his subject, he is enthusiastic about his subject, he speaks very well, and it was on a topic that I am interested. I'm not sure which browser you're using, but the simplest fix might be to increase the font size in your browser, rather than messing with your default display settings.
If you're using FireFox (which I strongly recommend, BTW), you can increase or decrease the font size at any time, on any page, just by using Ctrl + or Ctrl - respectively. You can get firefox here.
If you're using Internet explorer, you can adjust the font size by going to the View menu, then Text Size and then picking one of the 5 options, from "smallest" to "largest". I don't know of any keyboard shortcuts for this one, sorry.
This option will probably be easier than increasing the fonts for all sites, even those you presumably have no problems with at present. |

Thanks John. I've heard about Firefox but, as I am a computer cretin, have been a little leary of messing with this thing. As long as it works, however shabbily......

| That's it. That's what I accidentally did to change the font. You will be better off on oh so many levels, filthy. I thought FireFox was discussed here before. Everyone I know switched to it since explorer was getting hit with so many worm attacks. You will be very pleased with your new browser. I've only ever run into one page that required explorer to open and explorer is actually still accessible through the programs menu anyway. |

Yeah, I use Firefox and couldn't be more pleased. No more bullshit viruses changing my homepage to some dial-up porn outfit. And I didn't even know about the Control +/- thing. Way cool. filthy, that seems perfect for you. No more having to avoiding sites that interest you just because of font size. I hope you find it easy to use and helpful.

You too? Mine is some sort of a search page. How do you get rid of that piece of shit?
And, being the numth'kul that I am, I've yet to figger out how to use the Control +/- jigger. Doing something wrong somewhere & how. Other than that, Firefox seems to work very well; much better than Explorer, certainly. A lot faster. Glad I got a little loaded last night and worked up the nerve to install it. I think I downloaded some spyware program on a trial basis just long enough to get rid of a most persistent virus. Of course, since I started using Firefox, I really don't even worry about it.

I'm still learning my way around it. I'll get it, sooner or later. Hell, I'm tickled half to death with the way my box is running just as it is.

Also, definitely get some free search and destroy spyware program like Spybot. We use Zone Alarm free version for the firewall and installed free spyware deleting programs but I can't remember if we used Adaware or Spybot or something else. I'll let you know tomorrow. We also had to do something in the programing to get rid of one particularly nasty spyware page. I'll ask my son about that as well. |

Spybot is good. I also use adaware and a few other effective (and free!) programs. ZoneAlarm is OK, although can be problematic at time, depednding on what other software you run. I've got some basic procedural stuff and recommendations on my personal site. Apart from my actual work which occasionaly requires this sort of thing, I've de-loused and resurrurrected enough PC's for friends/family etc to warrant putting something on the web for reference.
This is the procedure I recommend for a general cleanup. My "overview" page for resources and advice of this ilk is here.
If you don't like the small font's there's a link to a text-only version of the procedure on the page, reproduced here for your convenience. Rather than opening it though, you might want to right click and "save as" the link, that way you'll have a plain text (no html/php) version to view/print as you see fit.
I hope this helps.
BTW, the Ctrl + and Ctrl - things should work on most pages. There are some web designers however, who hard code font size and types into their web pages. These people should be shotbeaten up.  OK, maybe that's a bit harsh, but they do need some serious re-education. I've checked the BAUT forum, and the keyboard shortcuts work just fine there.
