Just recently saw on free to air TV Mike Willesee a pseudo-documentary called the rather apocalyptically titled "the signs of God". One scene was some rather spectacular film footage of a "stigmata" at work, which was claimed at the time to be the wound of Christ as he was nailed on the cross. Well was this at all convincing film footage? Hardy, because one could clearly observe that the wounds intitially bled from two inscisions cut in the form of a cross. Probably cut with a razor blade or box cutter blade, and should of been exposed on the spot as a farce. If a scientist really has to waste his time exposing such a farce, then the wound should be consistant with an injury inflicted by a roman nail driven through with evidence of tissue damage right through both the hands and feet. This injury must appear "miraculously" and has be verified with an MRI

The stigmata nonsense seems to pop up on a regular, almost programed basis. And they get it wrong every time.
I've read that in Roman crucifictions the nails were driven in behind the wrists, rather than through the hands so that they wouldn't tear out. Makes sense, in a grusome sort of way.

To bring the matter to it's ultimate finish, the victim's legs were also broken at the shins, crossed, and nailed through the breaks.
If someone produced THAT stigmata, I, for one, would travel a right good way to see it. I even might donate a little toward his / her medical bills, unless, of course, there's some sort of divine intervention and the stigmatized walks away from it.

Stigmata: starts with a boy in the back of church stabbing his hand with a sharp object to draw attention to himself
