Yes it's that wonderful time of year again--NATIONAL BIBLE WEEK.Nov 18--25
Let's start it with a quote shall we?

Matthew 10:34-35
Think not that I am come to send peace on earth:I came not to send peace, but a sword. For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother...

Yes that is only one of the many quotes from the NT that present day Xians feel free to interpret wildly. Would any of you Xians here care to show us how this is actually a "positive" message from JC?

That could be the theme of this years NBW. "Why the bible means something other than what it says."

That is the beauty of mythology. It is all in the delusions of the beholder.

Seriously though, some of these Xian fundies need to get their meds updated. I fail to understand how anyone can take the Bible, a book that condones everything from murder to torture on the one hand and preaches love on the other, then gets into rabid xenophoiba, can be taken seriously. Are these folks incapable of independent thought?

I think that the Bible needs a rigorus rewrite and looked at by a hungover editor with no sense of humor.

And a ridiculous National Bible Week to you, too!

Maybe I should go and drag out my husband's Masonic bible. I sure its around here somewhere. Really.
The message might be bullshit, but there's lots of really cool artwork in it.
