I've yet to meet a child who reads Harry Potter who actually believes that witchcraft is real. They don't believe that it's possible to fly on brooms or turn people into badgers. There seems to be a solid core of adults, however, who believe that these things are true, and that the Harry Potter books are leading children into doing things like that. If we show our children that we are that stupid, why should they respect us?

Good point. I think it's the film makers who started that rumor that H. P. was evil, so more people would go see it from the controvircy. Just like in New Mexico when someone said they saw a space ship, it hypnotized others and to believe, now they sell all kinds of sovuniers there. Someone is getting rich. Don't stress over it, it's all capitalism and the American Way.

You're probably right in a way. The studio has to pay for advertising. Fundies screaming their heads off is free advertising. I don't think the studio started the rumour, but they're certainly not firing back at the critics. By staying quiet they're letting the fundies do a lot of their advertising for them. Lisa
