O.I. siad: quote: I would probably vote Bush. I don't know if I could bring myself to vote for anyone forwarded by Sorros.
That is hilarious. Thank you for bringing humor into a boring day.
You are aware, fully of course, that this republican congress and president had more than one opportunity to completely eliminate the influence of people like Sorros from US politics.
They struck down comprehensive campaign finance reforms (forwarded by one of their own to boot) that would have taken unlimited money from private special/single interest groups out of the equasion.
They struck it down because they benefit to greatly from it themselves. They use the single issue groups like a blunt weapon in campaigns. They spend hundreds of millions of dollars bashing opponent candidates with ads, flyers, emails, push-polls, etc... in the complete abscence of regulation.
So you will understand when I say that your outrage seems misplaced, again. If Sorros pisses you off, then the people who decided to allow his influence in politics continue should piss you off even more.

I visited the Draft Gore page and saw that there was a petition, however, you could only choose American States as location, not "elsewhere". So I wrote them an e-mail:
quote: I'd like to inform you that people of other nationalities are reading your page. This means that there are some of us who would like to sign the partition. This poses a small problem, since at least I would not like to botch the list and making it "unvalid" because I can inflate the list with a signature that is not of American origin.
I propose that you enable foreigners to sign with "another country/rest-of-the-world" State, and adjust your database accomodate this. Or simply set up a secondary outside-the-US petition list, just to see how much support draftgore.com has outside your borders.
thanks, Mikael Jakonen 1st world citizen - Europe
It took more than a week before the response came, but it really did. I wasn't expecting it... quote: Hello Mikael, and thanks for your support.
While we do not have a special section of the petition for non-U.S. citizen, we do welcome people from all over the world to sign the petition. This is not an official document and there are no restrictions as to who can sign. Obviously we want a great majority to come from the U.S. for obvious reasons. But many people from other countries have signed and commented, and I believe that shows Al Gore's strength as a political figure unlike any other in this country: a true statesman with support worldwide.
So please feel free to sign and add whatever comments you feel are appropriate.
