Something I received in the mail from someone I don't know.

THE PHYSICS OF CREATION

Where Did the Universe Come From?

Physicists can trace the origins of the universe back in time some multiple of billions of years to an unbelievably dense and hot point called a singularity. Imagine the whole of creation- stars galaxies, our sun, the earth, compacted to a point the size of the head of a pin with nearly infinite density and temperature. Scientists have done a pretty good job of getting the answer to the beginning of the Universe back to the point milliseconds before the Big Bang. But science ends as does the known laws of physics at the absolute beginning.

The universe, originating in a singularity, exploded out in an event referred to as the Big Bang into what eventually became the galaxies, stars, and planets that we see in the night sky. But where did this singularity come from and how did it get so dense and hot? The answers can only come from an extra-science source- namely a spiritual one. God, who by definition is beyond His creation, would know how it all took place. This report claims that God has left a record of His creative process that has been with us for thousands of years, but has been misinterpreted and overlooked. It is located on many bookshelves and coffee tables in our homes- the Bible, and specifically in the first chapter of the book of Genesis. Genesis, as we shall see, explains the origin of the universe in terms familiar with the reader at the time it was written. Familiar terms like “water”, “deep”, and “heaven”, actually are representing something totally different and amazing. By overcoming the language problem the “science” of the creation of the universe can be revealed.

My hope is that you will see the connections and be able to follow the logical sequence of events written in that incredible book and finally get the answer to the ultimate question- Where did the universe come from?

In the Very Beginning

Gen 1:1 In the beginning God created [the] heaven and (then) the earth.
The first sentence of the Bible acts like a chapter heading and sums up the order of the creative process for us. First God created “Heaven”- the spiritual realm, and then the earth. There are two entirely different meanings to heaven in Genesis. One is the spiritual realm called “Heaven” and the other is the starry space above the earth or “the heavens”. It is important to get these two terms straight, because one is completely different from the other and sometimes they are misinterpreted.
2 And the earth (and by implication the material universe) was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. (the “deep” here being Heaven not the ocean) And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters (“waters” and “deep” are used interchangeably here).
Heaven existed before the material universe was created. Heaven was empty and dark, but it still existed as space- heavenly space. I surmise that heavenly space was not much different than our “outer space”- a dimensional grid or matrix possessing latent energy due to its existence. We have to assume that God either created heavenly space out of nothing- maybe thought it into existence, or that God existed in this space for all eternity. I hold to the theory that God created the “deep” out of pure thought- an imaginary matrix.
3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
At some point God must have been tired of existing in the dark and a “light” bulb went off above His head. “Let there be light”- what a concept. But what kind of light was this? It couldn't be light composed of photons as we know it. This light was much more- it was the light of consciousness separate from God's own-
a birth of sorts.
4 And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.
God was pleased with His new creation. Heaven was filled with light, but God broke it down into smaller units by separating

A suggestion for this thread.
How many different interpretations (not the language it's written in but the meaning the words are given) of Gen 1 are Christians peddleing?

... six million seven hundred sixty three thousand and two, six million seven hundred sixty three thousand and three,...

I too, received the same gobbley-gook email from an unknown just two days ago. Wrote back telling him when I have questions about the "beginning" I'll inquire with astronomers, cosmologists - people that are qualified to answer. When they, the science community, are pushed to the inth degree and don't have a working theory at hand, they will say "We don't know, not enough data at this time".
Instead of going off feeling depressed and insigificant I go crack open an icy cold beer and sizzle-up a thick steak on the grill. My biggest most pressing problem of the unknown is whether or not the trout this weekend are going to hit on my newest tied pheasant tailed nymph.

Jeez, I got this thing just yesterday. Maybe I'd be more receptive to it if he had something in the body of his message besides "Reply requested." (for those who haven't gotten it, The Physics of Creation is in an attached word doc).

He could have at least said, "Hey, this is who I am, this is how I have your email address, and this is why I think you give a damn.

I wish I had a tied pheasant tailed nymph.

If I had a tied pheasant tailed nymph I'd be willing to thank god.

Or any nymph. I wish I had any nymph. Just one.

Sigh.

My kids still love me.

I haven't received the e-mail, but on reading the OP this was my thought exactly, along with the idea of this just pushing the question of origin back a step.

My kids still love me.

It's been a little while since I delved into the pseudoscientific fantasies of the bible-whompers. Our good friend Gerardus Bouw uses general relativity to assert geocentrism, of course, but there are wild and woolly opinions linking the term "firmament" to the field called quintessence, and God's sustaining luv to energy poured into every atom in the Universe in order to keep the electrons from spiraling into the nucleus.

Sheesh.

I was really hoping that the author of the letter would actually attempt to explain Gen. 1:6 & 7. That would have been really interesting. I've always been curious about where all the water above the firmament got off to. Maybe, God forgot to close the window?
